Tarsan: I mean no. oO Forgive me Marni. Four preserve you. Oo The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
Imril: If I were Vulcan, I believe my response would be “Go to Hell.”... If I were Vulcan.
Ikaixar: If you think we’re going to bend to you, I’d think you’re stupider than you look.
Jaran: Looks like we're all sticking together. Sorry, big guy.
The Man shook his head, returning to his seat. Gavrin turned a brief but genuine smile on his friends. Because, yes, this is what they were now to him. His friends. Sierin, Imril, and Jira as well. His brain skipped a little on the last of the three, filling in with #itscomplicated, which right now was not a thought he really had the time to examine.
Man: Wrong move.
With a casual flick of his remote, he brought his full monitor array to life. The composite image across their faces showed Marni and the children sitting in what looked like a hotel room that could have been anywhere.
Gavrin’s face immediately fell. This man wasn’t going to execute his family right in front of them all, not when it would remove the last of his leverage. Would he?
Ikaixar: I somehow don’t believe you have the stones for such an extreme measure. So what? What is this?
Tarsan: There is no way you’re that… evil.
It was a weak comeback, because literally nothing this man had done since they’d been brought into the room had actually suggested that he wasn’t that evil. He wasn’t wearing a skull on his hat or anything, but Gavrin was fairly sure that wasn’t a requirement these days.
Maybe the Reds really were the baddies.
Man: Something to motivate a change in heart on your parts. ::Looking behind the foursome:: Take them somewhere where they can re-evaluate their choices.
There was the sound of motion behind them. Gavrin started to turn, but found himself in a chokehold, unable to cry out. He tried to strike at the person behind him, but he was held firmly, unable to act, and forced to watch as his friends were shocked into unconsciousness one by one.
Some distant part of his mind, trained to compartmentalize itself when the going got particularly tough (though clearly with the expectation that the going was going to be emotionally tough, rather than quite so viscerally physical), offered the thought that this was clearly meant to be a punishment, since he’d been the one that had been supposed to break the others.
It further noted that as it was entirely compartmentalized and tucked away from his body’s pain receptors - and indeed cushioned from most of his emotions - that it was above caring about such things and wished the rest of Gavrin’s mind a good day before slamming the door shut.
Tarsan: ::gasping:: You basta-
He never got to finish his words, as an intense pain slammed through his entire body, followed - blessedly - by darkness and a complete lack of anything as he hurtled into unconsciousness.
