(( Ready Room, Deck 1, USS Artemis-A ))

Ollie stood at full attention, closely watching the captain as she picked up the PADD to review his transfer order, immersing herself in the complexities of the bureaucratic language on screen.

MacKenzie: You start.

The captain gestured toward the second person in the room, and Bergmen's focus shifted to the man in the red uniform.

Dakora: Welcome Aboard, Mister Bergmen. I’m Commander Talos Dakora, the Artemis’ XO and this is Captain MacKenzie.

Ollie nodded with evident enthusiasm, albeit possibly too much for an officer. Certain deeply ingrained habits stemming from his experience as a non-commissioned officer proved challenging to overcome.

Bergmen: Happy to be here, sir. Ma’am.

Ollie winced slightly as the metallic sound of the captain putting away the PADD interrupted his conversation with the first officer.

MacKenzie: So, Ensign, why are you interested in Ops?

Bergmen: Ma’am? I… ::hesitated, as if grappling for the right words:: OPS offers a variety of cross-ship opportunities. Over the years, I've gained experience in ship logistics, shuttle operations, or Boatswain duties. I take pride in efficiently completing paperwork and have a passion for it.

Ollie's stomach churned uneasily as he sensed the First Officer's lingering gaze, which seemed to convey more than just a passing interest in their new OPS Officer.

Dakora: Is that so? ::He crossed his arms across his chest and leaned back into his chair.:: Our Ops officers tend to wear many hats… It’s sort of a necessity for the job. How are you at multi-tasking?

Ollie pondered the question's intricacies, contemplating his response. True to be told, OPS demanded multitasking, yet numerous senior NCOs and officers specialized in particular divisional tasks.

oO Does he ask this question to anticipate the kind of officer I might turn into? Oo

Bergmen: If the nature of the task and the circumstances necessitate, yes, I am proficient in multitasking, sir.

Not that he was dodging the question, but lacking a clear understanding of its intent, Ollie opted to give a noncommittal response. The first officer nodded, then turned to the captain, indicating that it was now her turn to question Ensign Bergmen.

MacKenzie/Dakora: Response
