((Holodeck 1 - Deck 2 - USS Artemis-A ))

Bancroft: oO Got you. Oo

Alex could sense Imril still down there, so she shifted her position another few centimeters toward the mouth of her hiding place.  She was masked by the stalagmite in that direction, but then a pressure behind her eyes screamed into her head.  She twisted her chin in the opposite direction where a phaser was pointed at her.  Her mouth disappeared into a crinkled line, and her eyes relaxed.  She breathed in, waiting for the shot. Still waiting, her brows joined together and lines etched beside her eyes.  oO Shoot me, Roy.   You have me dead to rights. Oo

Bancroft: oO Training simulation or not, I refuse to shoot a colleague. An enemy? Sure. But this isn’t an enemy. This is… Alex. Oo

oO  Shoot me! Oo Black eyes cried. oO Don’t hesitate.  Protect your teammate.  Please. Oo

After a breath, her eyebrows smoothed; her eyes hardened, and she raised her phaser toward the doctor’s chest.

Bancroft: oO Shoot me, then. Simulated or not, I will not harm a fellow officer. Oo

Storm exhaled and began to squeeze the trigger, but before she could, a searing pain hit the middle of her back and spidered out across her back. Alex’s knees struck simulated rock.

Storm:  ::Stifled:: Aghh

Bancroft: Response

Two white hands reached out to cushion her fall as her head nearly hit the ground.

Storm:  oO  Breathe, Alex.  Ignore the blaze and breathe!  And for the Dieties sake next time dial down the pain factor! Oo

Bancroft:  Response

The fiery wound held her in its grip for a full thirty seconds before its claws retracted and eased out of her spine.  Once the pain dissipated, the cavern and phasers evaporated into mist, leaving the gold on black grid once again.  Alex took a deep breath and slowly raised herself to her full height. Pulling a PADD out of her pocket, she said...

Storm:  Computer: Transfer all data relevent to this qualification session to this PADD.

The raven-haired woman pivoted on her toes to face Imril more than Roy. Storm: That wasn't quite what I was expecting to happen, but we'll talk through each section of the training simulation, starting with the shooting range portion - which is half of the phaser evaluation.

Bancroft/Imril:  Response

Storm:  I feel like in a short period of time, you both made significant progress. You both hit the number of required shots, so both of you passed that half.

Bancroft/Imril:  Response

Storm:  Questions or comments from either of you before I chime in on the practical half of the session?

Various emotions scrambled for dominance within her psyche. Alex drew in a slow breath and exhaled just as slowly.  Her lips disappeared altogether, leaving only the hint of a line. Her eyes flicked up at Roy, but she couldn't hold his gaze, fleeing to Imril's eyes instead.

Bancroft/Imril:  Response.
