((Briefing Room – Deck 1, USS Artemis-A))
(OOC: Realized sitting down for lunch I should have posted last night ~ Nat)
The Captain, Samantha and Natasha sat with General Kexxin and Major Oolwi discussing an actionable and lasting ceasefire. During which there were some reveals of traitors, outside actors and unknown devices. Resulting in a plan to likely track down Vef-Lai for Major Oolwi.
Cole: So, we’re chasing down a traitor with access, motivation, and a head start. Sounds like a Monday.
Natasha thought she felt the energy in the room lift, a little at least.
MacKenzie: A Monday for which we’re equipped, fortunately.
Richards: Response
Kexxin: ::Gesturing to MacKenzie and Oolwi:: You two say the word and I can get my top units out and looking for Vef-Lai.
MacKenzie: I certainly don’t have any objections. Major?
Oolwi: Personally, I don't care who catches him as long as he’s caught. The sooner, the better.
Natasha considered the Major’s sentiments for a moment before speaking. It of course was important to capture Vef-Lai as fast as possible, but also alive. Alive could get them answers, even if he didn’t cooperate, death would give them nothing.
Cole: Capturing Vef-Lai alive should be the priority. We may not get him to talk, but keeping him breathing gives us options—like finding out who’s pulling strings behind the curtain. I’m not betting on flipping him, but we might use him to smoke out the ones still hiding in the dark.
Richards: Response
MacKenzie: Ensign, I’d like you to place a few of our security officers on standby in case the Grunden would like any assistance.
Cole: ::nodded:: I’ll put a team together.
During a brief pause in the conversation Kexxin appeared to take in his surroundings. Looking almost like a child discovering something new and exciting for the first time.
Kexxin: ::Nudging Oolwi:: If things don’t get resolved planetside, want to be a stowaway with me and leave with the Artemis?
Natasha looked from Kexxin to the Captain to gauge her response. If either of them did wish to seek asylum there were protocols for such things.
MacKenzie: While you’d both be welcome, I think if I’ve learned anything by this conversation it’s that you both have more in common than you
likely realized.
Oolwi: ::Nodding:: Including newly made enemies bent on rolonging this war. Enemies who have us at a disadvantage in, among other areas, communication.
Cole: But you also have allies now as well, even among those that not long ago may have been enemies.
Kexxin/Richards: Response
Oolwi: Our mutual adversary is capable of coordinating precision strikes under the noses of our respective militaries without them being aware. We must level that playing field, assuming that the General and I will need to return planetside if we are to do our share in ending this misery. We will need some means of speaking with you, your ship, and each other which the conspirators cannot access or undermine. I propose that we be permitted the use of Starfleet communicators. For the duration of this operation.
Natasha was not exactly surprised at the request, but that felt like a big ask, especially with the precariousness of the situation. Sharing our tech would likely land everyone in a lot of trouble. If the Captain did, would she be asked to detain the Captain for breaking the Prime Directive. Natasha was not fond of that being how her first ship assignment went. It did start to make her think. There had to be a way to abide by it, but also side step it a little.
Kexxin/Richards: Response
Oolwi: I can’t be sure who’s listening in on the Kobaryi satellite network. You have seen the extent of our surveillance network, Captain. Vai-Lef’s ears could be everywhere and anywhere on my side of the border. Nor do I know what that transmitter device of Naru’s is capable of. Or how many such devices are spread along the places and people we must travel among down on Kydon. Remove whatever bells and whistles you must to stay on the right side of the Prime Directive, but I think this is a necessity of the moment.
The Major wasn't going anywhere, just yet. But, so long as she was staying and fighting for her world -- her whole world -- she'd take every advantage she could get her hands on.
Cole:What if we gave them access to some older tech that doesn’t directly violate the Prime Directive? ::making a flipping motion with her hand:: Something classic?
MacKenzie/Kexxin/Richards: Response
