Adea: I am not lying now when I say I wouldn’t believe this of you. What happened?

He was testing her patience. Tevet couldn’t believe the powerful time traveller that had appeared to her house more than twenty years ago could be this ignorant. Either he lied or had a dangerous disregard to the affairs of the universe and time. After what he had said back then and what Tevet had learnt from him, she refused to believe it would be the latter. She had made the conclusion.

Letting her rage come to the surface, Tevet straightened her body and grasped the armrests of her throne, clasping them so that she left a mark. Genkos jumped visibly of her sudden change of demeanour. She enjoyed seeing him minding her now.

Elain: I took over. All of Betazed is mine. You left me with the knowledge of the future, and I took it. Not just Betazed, but most of the Federation, the remands of the Romulan Star Empire, Dominion, they fell before my feet. I’m the Empress, I’m the Dictator, I’m the Tyrant! This side of the galaxy is mine, and now, I’m expanding to the other half, and beyond!

Adea: Tyrant?

Relaxing her hold of the armrests, Tevet looked at him. He kept asking her questions and almost doubting her words. The fire raged within her still, but she recognized an opportunity, and she knew how to take advantage of those regardless of her feelings. She smirked, even if her eyes didn’t reflect it.

Elain: Aren’t you curious. I have so much to tell you, wouldn’t you like to continue this conversation on my ship? It’s been a while since I’ve had a pet. ~ Don’t be stupid. ~

Genkos stood up rapidly. Tevet leaned back and crossed her legs. She had managed to get into his head, and she had the upper hand. She enjoyed seeing him struggle with his internal dilemma, his sight moving around his crew seeking support they couldn’t provide; only she could.

Adea: Will you leave my crew alone, and let them go on their merry way?

That really gained Tevet’s attention. The smile on her face turned genuine. Even if she didn’t entirely trust Genkos to be sincere with his offer, she felt that she was winning. He was ready to surrender himself. A plea from one of his crew was barely audible through the commlink.

Yellir: ::in a whispered shout:: Doctor— you can’t be serious.

Tevet stood up from her throne and stepped down a few steps closer to the screen, mimicking what Genkos had done. Straightening the jacket of her military uniform, she didn’t break eye contact with Genkos for a moment but studied him.

Elain: Is that what you want, Genkos? Yourself for the safety of your crew?

Adea: That’s my only condition. Leave them alone and you can have me.

Tevet measured him for a moment further. She was convinced he was lying again, but the prize was too tempting to turn down. If she could get him onboard her vessel, she had little obligation to follow the terms of their deal should he have a sinister plan of his own.

Elain: Very well. We have a deal. You will board my ship, and your ship will be allowed to leave this sector without being harmed.

Imperial Aide: ~ Majesty, we― ~

Without turning away from Genkos or letting her face reveal anything of the brief conversation with her aide-de-camp, Tevet responded to her.

Elain: ~ No. I know what I’m doing. ~

Adea: Response

Tevet turned away from the screen and sat once more to her throne, leaning heavily to one side and resting her head against her hand, crossing her ankles on the side. She felt confident, composed, victorious.

Elain: Welcome to the winning side, Genkos. I’m eager to see you in pers―

Before she could finish her sentence, Genkos’ image on the screen began to flicker and eventually disappeared, leaving nothing but an error message visible. Tevet straightened her posture and remained staring at the blank screen, confused, before addressing her personal staff forgetting to switch over to telepathic communication.

Elain: What happened?

Nothing. The crew on her command centre were nigh panicking as they run through reports and programmes on their consoles, but none of them violated the silence that always reigned over the room.

Elain: WHAT HAPPENED!?

Tevet turned her head side to side, looking at each of her minions. In years had she been surprised so, forced to abandon her aura of confidence and control and reveal her emotional vulnerability to her crew like that. And she was out of control until she would learn what happened.

Bridge officer: ~ Majesty, they’ve released antimatter spread. It interferes with our sensors, including targeting. ~

Banging the armrests with her fists, Tevet let out an angered shout. Genkos. Genkos had lied once more. He was not the virtuous Doctor, healer of people and the time itself as he pretended to be. He was a fraud, meddler, a Doctor of war, and if war was what he wanted, so shall he receive.

Elain: ~ All ships! Do not let them escape! Shoot them, ram to their engines if you need to! Kill the rest, but I want Genkos!  ~

She stared at the glitching screen as the ships prepared for a fight. He had betrayed her trust once more, but it would be the last time.

Elain: ~ You had your choice, Genkos. ~
