((Sickbay - Deck 7 - USS Artemis-A))
Zoyara may have spent some time trying to decondition her father's methodology and strict parenting from her own behaviour. A task that was often filled with psychological landmines that she'd inevitably step on.
This wasn't one of them. Her father may have taught her to believe that any kind of perceived weakness was to be squashed or pushed aside. No one could know your vulnerability or else they'd exploit it.
Whilst she didn't believe this was the case with her friends and colleagues within Starfleet. Hadn't she seen others do this? The enemies of the Federation.
It was with that in mind that she determined that to deny certain weaknesses was a positive. And this was true in the case of her aversion to Sickbay.
Vailani: It just reminds me of very bad times but it's not like I'm running to the nearest airlock, I can handle a little trepidation, Doctor.
The doctor's smile appeared to widen as he nodded in agreement. She felt some relief that she hadn't offended the former first officer and now CMO. With the current first officer, she had enough to deal with.
Adea: That’s a fair point; ::he pursed his lips in a wry expression of amusement:: and if the Captain doesn’t like you, I’m sure you’ll find your way to the airlock soon enough.
Zoyara's eyes widened and she felt a retort come on and then she reminded herself that things were going well and he was more than likely joking.
Vailani: I'm hoping it won't come to that. I had read in the reports about an ensign? Lost in an airlock? Some kind of unexplained accident?
Zoyara didn't like anything that was unexplained but the report had been thorough and boiled down to a combination of mechanical failure and user error. Apparently?
However, she'd have had to have had her head stuffed into a nebula if she hadn't heard the rumours about Captain MacKenzie’s love of an airlock.
Adea: Honestly, one bizarre malfunction and a whole host of rumours get started.
Vailani: :: joke :: I'm sure he deserved it.
Almost like a reflex it came out and she bit her lip. She didn't want for Adea to think she was some kind of a joker and not to be taken seriously.
Adea: Response
Vailani: Sorry, I don't know why I said that.
Adea: Response
She slid her short legs to the side of the biobed and hopped down. Her eagerness to flee Sickbay was now increasing with each passing second.
Vailani: I have some work I need to do before the Captain's dinner on Risa. If we're finished, doctor?
Adea: Response
