((Main Shuttlebay, Deck 11, USS Artemis))
Savel welcomed the return of his normal routine about the Artemis. A structure to each day with time set aside for different activities and work tasks. Following their previous mission, this normalcy was heavily sought after by the Vulcan. During one of his duty shifts, he noticed the invitation to a tricorder training session sent out by Lt. Jovenan. He knew this would be an additional way to settle himself back into life on the Artemis, so he volunteered to participate. Plus, the Academy was the last time he had any formal tricorder training. So, it wouldn't hurt to have the refresher.
Jovenan: Ensign Chevalier, right? Hello! Thank you for coming!
Chevalier: Response
Jovenan: Here you go! I invited a few more people, and there were some volunteers signing in as well, so we’ll have to wait for a few moments longer before we can start.
When the security officer arrived, he found that Lt. Jovenan and Ensign Chevalier were already present and getting there things together. He seemed to be only the other one to show up so far.
Savel: Lieutenant, Ensign. ::a nod accompanied his greeting to each:: It is good to see you both.
Chevalier/Any: Response
While waiting for the rest of the group to arrive, Savel stepped up to grab one of the science tricorders from the box. He at least went through enough to make sure the device would turn on and seemed like it was working before he turned it off and slotted it in his belt.
Savel was, as ever, a security officer through and through. Even though they only intended to do a standard training scenario, and he was here as a trainee, he didn't intend to leave the ship without some form of protection for the team. On the other side of his belt, he had the non-lethal variant of the Type 2 Aquila Phaser holstered.
Once they were mostly gathered, Jovenan started to address the team that was getting ready to depart.
Jovenan: Good morning, everyone! I’m Lieutenant Jovenan, and I’ll be your training officer for the day. Today, we’ll learn and refresh our skills on how to gather, analyse and record data using a tricorder in the field. I’ll let you know of the exact scenario as we get on our way, but we’ll be heading to the rural Rakantha Province on Bajor. We’ll have quite a lot of walking ahead of us, so did everyone remember to get good shoes and a water bottle?
Savel: I believe I'm sufficiently prepared.
Along with the tricorder and phaser, he'd brought along a small pack of provisions, just in case something occurred that would keep them grounded on the planet longer than they initially anticipated.
Chevalier/Any: Response
Jovenan: Okay. There’s a replicator in the shuttle if anyone realises they need something. We’re still missing a person, so let’s wait for a few more minutes before boarding the shuttle.
Savel looked to a few of the craft that were sitting around in the shuttlebay. A few were obviously not their assigned shuttle as they were taken apart for routine maintenance.
Savel: Which shuttle will we be taking, Lieutenant?
Chevalier/Any: Response
Jovenan: I got us the Kerynitis, you can drop your stuff in there already if you want. Any volunteers to pilot it?
The Vulcan walked over to the rear of the shuttle, where the ramp was already down to allow them inside if they so wished. He didn't go in right away, instead he looked over to Jaseb. The last time the two of them boarded a shuttle together, things didn't exactly go to plan. And Savel had been the pilot.
This was an entirely different situation, but he couldn't help but observe the parallels to both of them.
Savel: I volunteer for the task; however, I would understand hesitation from others given how my last flight ended. In which case, I have no issue with conceding piloting duties to another.
Chevalier/Any: Response
It was illogical to assume that this flight would go anything like his last. He'd be flying a shuttle he actually knew how to pilot, and it was highly unlikely they'd be intercepted and shot down by Dominion forces.
Savel boarded the shuttle and stowed his pack away before looking to Jovenan.
Savel: Lieutenant, how long do you anticipate this training exercise will keep us on Bajor?
Jovenan: Response
He nodded before he finished securing his items on the shuttle.
Savel: Very well, I believe I am ready to depart whenever the rest of the team is sufficiently prepared.
Jovenan/Chevalier/Any: Response
