(( Sickbay – Deck 7, USS Artemis-A ))

After CloQ’s parting words, Addison had reason to believe that there might be something wrong with Genkos, though the omnipotent being had been nondescript about whom they were talking. Taking Genkos up on his offer for her to conduct an exam, a clean bill of health had calmed her mind, at least for the time being. The Chief Medical Officer had posited the idea that CloQ might have been talking about Talos, but Addison made it a point of ignoring the comment.

MacKenzie: You’re fine. Apparently.

Adea: Never doubted it for a second, Captain.

She returned to her chair on the other side of the desk and crossed her arms, a bit begrudgingly. After a moment, her face softened. He folded his own arms, and he leaned back, relaxed for the moment.

MacKenzie: Well, I suppose I don’t have to lose sleep over your well-being anymore, do I?

Adea: You’ve been losing sleep over me? I’m touched.

She guffawed. One of the things she appreciated most about her friendship with Genkos was that they shared similar senses of humor. The possibility that her relief might serve as a source of amusement to him had definitely not escaped her. Still, she resisted the urge to stick out her tongue at him.

MacKenzie: Fear not – my mind is at ease.

Genkos sighed for a long moment as he looked at the ceiling.

Adea: Have you considered that CloQ was just messing with you? One final twist of the knife before disappearing? They really dislike us all for some reason.

It was now her turn to sigh.

MacKenzie: They’re quite a vindictive, nasty little creature… I don’t know that causing us any mental anguish quite fits their M.O., though – they seem much more the type to put us through actual hell.

Adea: Response

She stood slowly, smoothing the front of her uniform, shaking her head.

MacKenzie: What seems much more like them would be to allude to something that has yet to happen… keep us guessing.

Adea: Response

She raised her arms and shrugged slightly.

MacKenzie: I suppose there’s no sense in worrying about anything until we have something to worry about. …right?

Adea: Response

She smiled and nodded slowly, before rapping her knuckles on the doorframe in the same manner as when she’d entered.

MacKenzie: Even though I’ve deemed you healthy, it could be fun to force Gila to give you a physical and critique every move she makes. She’d likely twist the anxiety ring right off her finger.

Adea: Response

Addison offered a playful smirk and wiggled her eyebrows before heading out of Sickbay.
