((Poolside, Risa))
Imril never wore skirt or scant uniform variants as a matter of practicality. Even with leggings, they were not the best choices for squeezing by intricate machinery or crawling through maintenance ducts. In their off-time, though, they might be known to sport a skirt or two. As they were presently doing, matched with a long, open-front floral vest.
The Padd in their hand was of Risan make. Elegant yet sporty, colored the silky aquamarine tone representative of the planet’s seas. Strapped over one shoulder, a woven faux-leather carry-all lightly loaded with various bits and baubles. Somehow, a tour of a local nature trail had turned into a scavenger hunt.
A resort pool seemed a likely enough place to find a discarded pet collar. (Preferably jeweled, and one that hadn’t been replicated too recently, as that might be seen as cheating). After two circuits of the place, though, Imril had yet to spot any such thing. But maybe something else could be acquired, or had been planted, in the area. They found a spot out of the way of a pair of Roylans who were headed for the diving boards and stopped to perused the padd.
Imril: .oO(Got that. Got that. No collector plate with whales on it around here. Got that. I still don't know what a deerstalker cap looks like--)Oo.
Syrex: Can I help you, Ensign?
Imril turned to see that one of their two shadows was draped directly over a blonde Trill woman not much taller than they were.
Imril: Whoops. Sorry about that.
They stepped clear of her sunbathing space, and then registered that they had been referred to by rank. The woman didn’t appear to be wearing any insignia with her com-badge, so they didn’t know what to address her as. Either way, she had them at a disadvantage, for she recognized their face while they didn’t know hers.
Imril: I’ll just find a place to sit and read this.
The woman smiled, putting the sunglasses back firmly on her face and gesturing to the free sun lounger adjacent to her, as if to say “take a seat”.
Syrex: By all means, please.
Imril: Thanks.
They sat down, placing the bag at the foot of the lounger. But didn’t resume their reading. Concerned that the Trill might feel slighted by Imril not recognizing them. Odds were that she was not an ensign.
Imril: Pardon me, should I be referring to you as ‘Sir’ or ‘Crewman’?
Alyndra turned her head to look at Imril. Still retaining her lounging state. Possibly wondering why Imril was keeping to protocol while they were both clearly on holiday.
Syrex: Lieutenant Syrex, but please, call me Alyndra.
Lt. Silveira’s chummy nature aside, Imril still wasn’t quite used to the lack of formality between ranks now that they were an ensign. Back in the Academy, things were so very much more structured. The change wasn’t unwelcome, however. Just very different.
Imril: Ensign Imril, Engineering. Imril’s the only name I have. But I suppose you know that already. Have we crossed paths on the Artemis? Or Starbase 118, maybe? I’m sorry, but I can’t place your face or even department.
Hopefully, she didn’t recognize them from Frontier Day! Thus far, they had managed to avoid any uncomfortable reunions regarding that catastrophe.
Syrex: Medical Officer, USS Ronin. She’s an Akira class ship assigned to the Alpha Isles if you didn’t already know.
It wasn’t terribly surprising that personnel from other Starfleet ships were taking leave on a busy vacation world at the same time as the Artemis’s crew. But the fact that Lt. Sy -- Alyndra-- knew Imril implied she’d been reading up on their ship in particular.
Imril: Are you transferring to the Artemis, by any chance?
Syrex: Response
It was quite a relief to know that Frontier Day had nothing to do with this day, this introduction, at all. The unbidden notion was happily swept away to make room for conversation.
Imril: Did the Ronin bring you to Risa, or did you get here some other way?
Syrex: Response
Imril: ::Mildly disappointed:: Ah. If the Ronin was here, I’d have called them up to see if I could set up a tour. I came over to the Badlands -- to the Artemis -- on an old Centaur-class. But I haven't gotten to see one of the more modern battleships up close yet.
Introduced around the time of the Dominion War, Akiras still counted as ‘modern’ by starship design standards. Mostly.
