(( Outskirts of the Bantlox Colony - Laoi III )
Sadar: It must be the Ship, the same thing that’s been messing with the colony’s computers. =/\= Sil-net. You still aren’t clear. Stand by- =/\=
The heavily distorted communication wasn't ideal however there was very little that could be done about that for now. Zoyara would think that if the matter was of a serious nature then Lieutenant Silveira would send one of the colonists to relay a message.
oO unless they can't Oo
She didn't want to consider that for now. The priority was the evacuation of the colonists and she needed to remain focused on that task. She could deal with Silveira's issues next - if that was even possible.
Bim Pend: Starfleet! Starfleet!
Zoyara turned, expecting some kind of bureaucratic argument and was instead met with a gathering of concerned colonists.
Sadar: Administrator? S-Sorry, we still haven’t-
Bim Pend: ::heaves for breath:: Never mind that, we’ve got a problem!
Zoyara felt her shoulders tense and her eyes flicker through the faces of the colonists; they were filled with confused fear and she braced herself for more bad news.
Gnai: More than evacuating the colony??
Vailani: :: concern :: What's happened?
Bim Pend: Some of our kids are missing.
Zoyara felt her stomach twist at that news, and her breakfast threatened to up-end itself.
Children were not something she liked to find herself amongst. Even still, the thought of missing children during an evacuation filled her with a chilling dread.
It seemed both Gila and Lieutenant Gnai shared in that sentiment. Gila’s eyes widened in shock, and Gnai’s tendrils seemed to … well change and flutter.
Sadar: K-K-Kids? Wh-What do you mean!?
Female Colonist: My son and a couple of his friends are missing, we can’t find them! We think they might’ve gone into the old caves down the coast.
Immediately Zoyara consulted her PADD trying to locate any information on caves in the area and found the information lacking.
Sadar: Oh no.
Gnai: ::turning its PADD around to show the coastline to the others:: There’s a good long stretch not far from here… but there’s no indication of where any caves might be.
Vailani: How dangerous are these caves?
Children in caves in a normal situation would be concerning. This was no normal situation; they had a Dominion Attack Ship that was essentially an unexploded bomb that could go off at any minute. Not only that, the recent works would likely make the caves more unstable and prone to collapse. A fact that she kept to herself.
The last thing they needed was panicked parents getting themselves killed in the caves as well.
Sadar/Colonists?: Response
Gnai: From previous scans of the ground here… the bedrock is predominantly made up of carbonate sedimentary rocks, especially in the direction of the water. If these children are in the caves, there’s no telling how stable they might be…
Vailani: Don't worry we'll do everything we can to find the children before that can happen.
Sadar/Colonists?: Response
Gnai: Sirs, the Galaktoboureko can likely transport the children out to safety, this thinks, if they can be found… but it might be difficult if they’re deep underground in an extensive cave system.
Vailani: If not we can probably use portable transporter devices to boost the signal. Of course, we need to find them. Can you tell us where you last saw them
Gnai/Sadar/Colonists?: Response
At that, with a sense of urgency the parents began to move to show them where they had seen the children last. The three officers followed, Zoyara took the opportunity to remove her tricorder to see if they were far enough away from the ship that they may be able to narrow down the search. She configured the device to scan the rock underneath them. An incomplete map, of sorts, came into display that revealed tight tunnels and deposits of water.
Vailani: Tricorder isn't picking up any children but I'm not sure if that's because they aren't there or the ship is still impacting the tricorder readings.
Gnai/Sadar/Colonists?: Response
The parents stopped suddenly. Zoyara knitted her brow. In front of them was a grassy knoll, they were still several hundred metres from the coastline.
Then she noticed a small opening at the bottom of the verge, concealed by grey rocks. Just large enough for an adult, perfect size for a child. And an enticing hideaway for the more adventurous children.
Vailani: We're going to have to go in there :: to Bim Pend :: I'll leave it to you to begin coordinating the evacuation while we retrieve the children. What are their names?
Gnai/Sadar/Colonists?: Response
