(( Bridge, CIC Desdemona ))

A handful of the Desdemona’s most Senior Officers had gathered on the dingy bridge. After spending the past few days in the too-perfect cleanliness of the Starfleet Vessel, the decades of wear and tear the Des had faced had never been more apparent.

As if to underscore this fact, the hull groaned from somewhere deep in the bowels of the ship. Probably due to the accelerated repair efforts of the Artemis’ skilled engineering teams.

As they all took their positions around Colonel MacKenzie, Ares didn’t need to be a telepath to figure out where this was going. He knew Addison well enough to recognize the fire in her eyes that meant she wanted something. He also knew better than to doubt her ability to get it.

MacKenzie: I absolutely will not accept going back to our reality without their weapons. They won’t give us any, and the Desdemona couldn’t support the amount of energy they’d take, anyway, our only option is to hijack the Artemis.

And there it was. What they had all been thinking, put to words by their leader.

The Frontier-doc-turned-Chief-Physician waggled one of the little data chips the Starfleeters used rather smugly.

Adea: Got some security codes right here.

Ares managed not to let his eyes go too wide, lest the Cocky Doctor’s head grow too large.

Dakora: Well that will certainly streamline things…

The Artemis’ Adea was a high-ranking Officer and department head. If they’d managed to compromise his access this plan might have legs. However, Ares still wasn’t quite sure how he felt about that.

Stennes/Yellir: Responses

MacKenzie continued, asking the important questions.

MacKenzie: What have you learned about our counterparts in your time with them?

Again, Adea chimed in. His already smarmy tone seemed to be increasing in smarmination by the second.

Adea: What haven’t I learned? Whatever he knows, we know.

Ares hadn’t hadn’t had much direct contact with his counterpart. He’d come away from his one brief encounter with the Artemis’ Chief Intelligence Officer Talos Dakora more amused than anything. He seemed fine. Soft in comparison to the Desdemona crew, but that was true of nearly all of the Artemis’ denizens.

Dakora: They aren’t used to the kind of loss that we’re used to taking in stride. ::Ares leaned against a console with his elbow.:: We get our hands on a couple of key crew members and threaten to dust ‘em if they don’t comply and I’m betting they’ll hand over the keys to the kingdom.

Stennes/Yellir: Responses

MacKenzie: So, just what’s it going to take to be able to pull this off?

With Genkos successfully assuming the persona of the Artemis’ Doctor Adea they were already off to a good start.

Dakora: If the good Doctor can use his newly acquired clearances to get us some of their arms and armor, it’ll probably make things go easier. ::He cocked his head.:: Even so, it still won’t be easy or simple.

Stennes/Yellir: Responses

Addison’s lips pursed as Luana and Didrik weighed in. Even with an inside man, their success wasn’t guaranteed. There wasn’t exactly a manual of arms for attempting to outfox and overthrow… yourself.

MacKenzie: I was afraid you would say that. Adea, you and Yellir will be responsible for seeing just how much access Commander Adea has. You'll be responsible for getting us some of their weapons, and locking them out of as much as possible. If I were you, I'd enlist the help of Jovenan, Kuva, and Chevalier.

The Doc tossed the engineer the isolinear chip.

Adea: First off, let’s see what we can get off this.

Yellir: Response

MacKenzie: Dakora, you and Stennes will take everyone who's left and put together the plan for how we're going to take their ship.

Stennes: Response

Ares let his gaze settle on hers for a moment, and then he nodded.

Dakora: Understood.

Her eyes shifted back and forth between them all.

MacKenzie: I know I don't have to remind you of the importance of discretion…

Adea: As the other me might say - discretion is the better part of valour. ::he tapped at his temple:: Although I don’t know where he gets that from.

MacKenzie: Response

With their orders handed out, the crew parted ways, seemingly eager to get started on the opportunity of a lifetime. Ares turned to Stennes with a sort of semi-confident smirk that didn’t quite reach his eyes.

Dakora: Major Stennes, I’ll catch up with you and the team in just a minute.

Stennes/Yellir: Responses

Ares moved to follow Addison as she headed for her ready room.

Dakora: Colonel? A word?

MacKenzie: Response

He stepped into her ready room, the door tried to close, but seized on its track for a moment, only whining closed when Ares banged his fist against it a couple of times.

Alone in her sparsely appointed office, he took a deep breath.

Dakora: Look, Colonel. ::He cocked his head just a little.:: Addison. First, let me say, If you green light this Op, I’m in. I have your back one hundred percent. You need to know that.

Ares, leaned up against her desk, crossing his arms across his chest. It didn’t take an empath to feel the turmoil in his mind.

MacKenzie: Response

Dakora: But… Is this who we are? ::He pointed in the general direction of the Artemis.:: Those aren’t Shint over there. Once things go hot, there’s a good chance people are going to get hurt. Us… them…

He shrugged, letting his dark eyes find hers.

Dakora: All I’m saying is; Once we cross that line, there’s no un-crossing it.

MacKenzie: Response
