(( Cockpit - USS Perseus ))

K’Wara: I’m on targeting.

Imril: Acknowledged. Moving into position.

K’Wara: Target locked. Firing phasers.

Imril was quite happy to leave the shooting to someone else

The clean phaser blast tore a neat hole through the sails of the Utaalagarro, rendering the material of the sail limp and flat as the vessel, adjusting to the sudden change in propelling medium snapped upwards and sideways. That final jump of the already struggling yacht caused one of the masts to buckle.

Female Voice:  =/\= Oh, flept! I don't even know what that one was called! =/\=

K’Wara: =/\= That means a hefty repair bill to your parents. Now, sit tight, this may get bumpy. =/\= Tractor beam locking on.

The Perseus’ tractor beam whirred as it latched onto the careening yacht, and Imril was rocked in their seat by the inertial tug-of-war. At first, the Pegasus was little more than a passenger along for a ride, dragging behind the larger vessel which was headed on a relentless forward path. Imril trying to mitigate the shuttlepod’s bucking as much as possible.

K’Wara: Adjusting power levels. ::flingers gliding over screen:: Beam stabilized.

Imril: The yacht’s drifting out of the eddy. Applying forward thrust.

In due time, the shuttlepod’s resistance became more apparent. And then irrefutable. The yacht slowed to a relative crawl, slow enough that its forward motion could be guided by tugs and pushes from the shuttlepod.

The comm channel erupted with random cheers and thank yous.

Imril: =/\= Pegasus to Utaalagarro. Sorry about the sail, but it had to be done. Just sit tight and we’ll get you to a parking ring.

Tamio looked up from their console and smiled at Imril.

K’Wara: All right. Guess your piloting test now also includes assisted docking of a tractored vessel. Feel up to it?

Imril looked over the ship’s diagnostics before answering. Braking the large yacht had taken a toll. The Pegasus’ engines had been strained near to the (official) limits, and reserve power had been all-but depleted.

Imril: I can get us all to the starport, but I can’t guarantee this boat’s going to make it to the second moon after. Not without refueling and a thorough engine check. ::Sensor check:: ETA ten minutes.

Imril set a course and hailed the starport to announce the imminent delivery of one slightly battered Grazerite solar yacht.
