Meris: ::slight smile:: Yes, Lieutenant. Thank you for agreeing to meet me. I wanted to discuss a minor issue with my quarters assignment.

The lieutenant nodded slightly as he listened to the ensign's words, furrowed his eyebrows, and, after a brief moment, picked up the top PADD from the stack he had brought with him.

Bergmen: Do you mind if I take notes? Nothing for an official report or so, just points for me, for later.

Meris: Of course, though I doubt notes will be needed. It really is a small matter but, to some of my species, it would be considered highly offensive.

Bergmen nodded slowly while jotting down a quick note about the issue. His expression reflected regret at what he had heard, but he didn't respond immediately, as if he were searching for something on his device's screen.

Meris: You see, the placard next to the door to my quarters has me listed as the Artemis' helmsman.

Suddenly, Ollie looked back at the ensign and offered an assuring smile. He knew where this was heading. He found it on PADD—the report and a service log about quarters preparation before they arrived.

Bergmen: That can be addressed, ensign Meris, and quickly, I’m quite sure. ::pause as he establishes eye contact:: In the name of Operations, I would like to express our deepest apologies. This shouldn’t happen. I will take personal actions to make all adjustments personally.

Meris: Response

The lieutenant nervously bit his lip and gave a hesitant nod. He had an idea, and that might just be the perfect solution.

Bergmen: You know what? Why don't you come with me? Why delay addressing something we can fix right now? ::smiles::

Ollie stood up from the table and offered his hand to Ensign Meris with a warm, friendly smile.

Lieutenant Bergmen picked up the golden metal sliver from the rack and cleaned it on the back of his uniform sleeve before giving it a careful inspection, and set it into the engraving machine. On the touchscreen next to the machine, he pulled up the saved template for Meris' room and deleted the first line with the ensign's assignment before he took a step aside to make space for the ensign.

Bergmen: I know, it’s old-fashioned and all. We could simply replicate your door label and be done with it, but you know, it's a tradition to give the smallest things in our lives a personal touch, because… ::pause:: Those smallest things can be the most important, and we just don’t know that until we do. ::smiles:: So, up to you, ensign, what do you want to have there?

Bergmen pointed Meris to the touchscreen, so they should enter the role assignment they wanted to be called upon.

Meris: Response

Ollie reached around the ensign and confirmed the entered text on the screen for the engraving. The machine immediately started to work, filling in space into letters, turning letters into words.

Bergmen: And now we need to wait about five minutes before it's done, and then we can go and change it, simple like that. ::smiles::

Meris: Response
