Lyara glanced up from her PADD as she found her room number. On the door, her name was listed along with her new roommate. She previously had an apartment all to herself at Denali and would miss the space she had, however, she found the idea of living with another person nice.

She opened the door to her apartment and there at the coffee table was her roommate. He was rummaging through his bag and hadn’t noticed her yet. Lyara politely walked up next to him to introduce herself.

Lyara: Hello?

The ensign turned his attention to Lyara as she smiled and gently waved.

Bremen: Hello? Ensign Ollie Bergmen, Operations. I’m living here. And you are living here. That means we are roommates, right? Did you pick your room already?

Lyara: ::She pointed to her room:: Yeah I’ll have that one.

Ollie glanced to her room and shrugged.

Bergmen: Oki douki, I take another one. May I ask, do you have something you want here in the common room specifically? I ask not to take some place for something important for you.

Lyara: Oh just make sure the coffee table is clear. I like to keep an open space when I work, you know how it gets with crew rosters and inventory huh?

Bergmen: Works for me!

She smiled as he nodded back to her, happy she would have a clean space to work. At the academy, Lyara had gotten into plenty of arguments with her roommate over how when she worked she took up a lot of space. She could only begin to imagine the workload of a starship, and all the table space she’d be taking up.

Lyara: Just don’t spill raktajino over anything.

Bergman: Response

Lyara gently chuckled as she loosened her hold on her bag and began to walk to her room. She stopped before turning back to her roommate.

Lyara: Oh by the way, I’m Bajoran and I practice chants and prayers every once in a while. I just want to tell you in case I’m too loud, don’t be scared to tell me.

Bergman: Response

After his answer, she gently let out a relieved sigh. Her chants had been described as “annoying” or “too long and too loud” on multiple occasions when she was at the academy, especially when she did ones before bed. So, she thought she could at least be courteous to give a warning before she practiced.

Lyara: Great, thank you for understanding.

Bergman: Response
