(( First Officer’s Office - Deck 2, USS Artemis-A ))
The conversation had taken turns that she hadn't expected, even of herself. Being confronted by a Kobali, and how flippantly she discussed the life of the body she now wore, had unsettled Ava deeply. That being said, she found no reasons to deny Vhysa'lia her request to transfer to medical. She had put in the required work to do so and Starfleet Medical and HQ were satisfied.
Ava exhaled a breath and looked at the PADD.
Munro: I'm going to approve your transfer from the counselling department to medical with several conditions. The first is that you appropriately handover your current clients in therapy, and if possible retain those you feel would benefit from continuing with yourself as their therapist. At least until it's appropriate to pass them on to another counsellor. The second is that you continue your own counselling :: delicate :: I'd also like you to think about discussing your feelings on the life of your kyn'steya - that is just good old fashioned professional advice, and optional :: serious :: The rest is not optional.
Vhysa'lia: Thank you, sir. I can get that started right away, I’ll reach out to my patients and have a discussion with them to see what would be best. ::pause, slightest grimace:: And I’ll continue seeing a counselor as well, sir.
Ava nodded and observed how increasingly uncomfortable the woman had become since she'd breezed into her office.
Ava wasn't known for subtlety and she wasn't going to start now.
Munro: I gather this conversation has made you uncomfortable? I'd have thought your experience in counselling would have made you less sensitive to difficult discussions?
With a concerted amount of effort the Kobali woman plastered a smile on her face… Ava couldn't help but wonder what a psychologist would make of that?
Vhysa’lia: Yes, sir. I just am not always comfortable on the other side of the desk, which, I know, makes me a bit of a hypocrite. ::laughs a little:: But I haven’t disobeyed an order yet, and I don’t plan to start now.
Munro: Your record is impeccable, I look forward to working with you Lieutenant Junior Grade Vhysa'lia - which will be your provisional rank once the paperwork has been filed.
Ava passed a PADD to her and her eyes glanced towards the door.
Munro: You have everything you need. Congratulations.
Vhysa’lia: Again, thank you, sir. ::getting up to leave:: It’s been a pleasure to get to meet you.
Ava smiled politely, she wasn't sure it was a pleasure on both their parts but it was certainly something. And as Vhysa'lia practically bolted from her office she found herself alone.
Munro: I'm sure it was.
She shook her head. She was disappointed in herself mostly. In her head was a series of faces and bodies. People she had loved who'd lost their lives in service. She imagined them as Kobali and the thought made her shudder. She was aware that this feeling she had was her own and not a reflection of Vhysa'lia. She wasn't proud of it.
Immediately she opened up her desk terminal, Ava was old fashioned enough to have requested one that was inserted into the glass of the desk that she could pull upwards when required. She began to research the Kobali, and their customs. Knowledge and awareness was the cure of ignorance.
End Scene for Munro.
