((OOC - just stitching the two together from Jones and Osuna))
((Sickbay - USS Artemis-A))
Jones: Looks like I'm late for the party! What can I do for you three this afternoon?
Kader: Yes, hello, we are here for our checkup. We were called away last time.
Savel: Response?
Lorana: It's nice to see you free of the dust Ensign Jones. That was a lot more dangerous than I'd hoped my first day to be.
Jones: In my experience, most Starfleet careers (at least the interesting ones) start in media res. Shall we start the onboarding exams? ::to Lorana:: Ladies first?
Lorana: Sure :: Lorana turned to Savel and Kader :: I'll speak to you soon. Let me know if you'd like to join me on my exploration later?
Kader: Sure, when we're done here.
Savel: Responses
Jones: I'll be right with you, gentlemen. Please help yourself to the replicator if you'd like.
Lorana felt happy with her introductions to her fellow ensigns, her anxiety lessening with every interaction. She followed Jones to an exam bed off to one side. She took a seat on the area that he gestured towards. She felt a slight apprehension, as she always done with medicals. Would they find something… how would the Da'allium interact with Caitians? Oh no, what was it about doctors that made you think of the worst.
Jones: So, Luxa Lorana: Ensign, science officer, and sharpshooter. How are you feeling?
Lorana: I feel fine :: pushing down the fresh anxiety :: Excited to be here.
Jones: Any history of ailments or chronic conditions? I must admit, I haven't had a chance to go through the new crew's medical records yet, so I'm a bit at your mercy outside of the current scans.
Lorana: Nothing to worry about Doctor. I'm perfectly healthy. I do need to make sure my scratching post is changed regularly and I eat well balanced diet - replicator food can be hit and miss for Caitians, unfortunately.
Hiro finished his scans, and set down the tricorder and lead Lorana back out to the main area of sickbay. Lorana was pleased that the doctor seemed so well mannered and considered. She was looking forward to getting to know him more.
Jones: Ok, who'd like to go next?
Kader: You don't mind, do you Savel?
Savel: Responses
Kader: Thanks, I owe you.
Jones: Very well. Right this way, Mr. Kader.
Hiro led the new helm officer into the area Lorana had once been in. Lorana stood in front of the Vulcan unsure of what to say.
Lorana: I guess you're used to dust? You know being Vulcan?
oO of all the things to say oO
Savel: response
Lorana winced a little.
Lorana: I don't suppose it is the same at all. I should get going I need to report to Lt. Osuna for my security briefing. What is it that humans say… kill a mockingbird with two branches?
Savel: Response
Lorana: Yes, they have a lot of sayings that don't make much sense. I'll leave you with a Caitian good bye.
Lorana made some Caitian purrs, and flicked her tail several times. What was it about Vulcans that made her behave like a lunatic?
Savel: Response
Lorana: Goodbye Savel. I hope to see you later.
Lorana quickly exited the sickbay before she done something else to embarrass herself. It had been going so well.
((Deck 8 - Outside Chief of Security's Office - USS Artemis-A - a short while later))
Lorana waited a few seconds, she pondered the discussion that she'd be having. Surely it would not look good that a science officer fired her phaser within the first hour of reporting to the Artemis.
Osuna: Enter.
The door opened and she entered, feeling slightly nervous. She imagined that the Chief of Security would be a very serious man. Yet she was met with a warm smile.
Lorana: Sir, permission to enter.
Osuna: Come on in, Ensign. ::Gesturing to the chair across from him:: Take a seat, if you like… ::He gestured to the replicator:: I was just thinking of grabbing a cup of Buko Juice. Can I get you anything? Mug of K’larr maybe?
Lorana was impressed, he'd obviously been in the company of Caitians or had some homework.
Osuna: ::Slight tilt of the head:: I can do hot or iced.
Lorana: I prefer it iced, thank you, Lt. Osuna.
Lorana took the seat, she observed the hoop on the wall across from his desk, which now was above her head. She had no idea what it's use was, perhaps he would hang from it? They had something similar on Cait, except it was much larger, so that you could leap through it. She eyed up Osuna's build and did not think he'd be able to get through the hoop.
Lorana: Lt. Osuna, I'd like to get something out before we begin. I :: she hesitated then the words tumbled out :: I knew the phaser was on stun and I was aware that the Da'al citizen was under the influence of the Da'allium when I fired. Otherwise I'd have never fired my phaser. They were perfectly fine afterwards, maybe a little traumatized but I was certain that was due to the meteor strike and not the phaser fire.
Osuna: Response
Lorana: Okay, are you sure?
Osuna: Response
