Gila was relieved. She’d gained the necessary permissions to leave her post on the USS Artemis-A temporarily to go bolster the relief efforts on Earth, which would allow her to focus on addressing the far-reaching consequences brought on by Frontier Day. In more ways than one... She steeled herself, not willing to grow lax before the perceptive Commander sitting before her, and when he posed her a question, she pulled her mind back to the social encounter at hand.

Adea: Have you been to Earth before?

Sadar: Y-Yes Sir. I studied at the SanFran Campus for the first two years of my time at the Academy.

The Commander seemed thoughtful at this admission of hers, though she was fairly certain such information had been listed in her personnel file sent to the Artemis prior to her assignment. Granted, the location of one’s education was less intriguing than one’s qualifications, particularly when her time on Earth was so brief. She vividly remembered how terrified she’d been when she decided to transfer to the SB118 Campus. Mizabet didn’t have any space stations or anything, so she hadn’t truly been faced with the prospect of ‘life in Space’ prior to arriving on Deep Space 9 en-route to Earth. She’d gotten thoroughly used to it while on Starbase 118, even if the size of that particular station sometimes made you forget that it was - in fact - a big box in space.

Adea: Did you do much exploring?

Sadar: Uhh... N-No. I must admit I saw precious little of the planet during that time... ::cheek folds vibrate:: I rarely left Campus, as I’m sure you can imagine.

Gila was self-aware enough to know that she was a deeply predictable person, after all.

Adea: Understandable. I hear there are parts of Earth that are very nice, not that I’ve really seen them myself. Try not to miss out.

oO Well, if there are any tourist attractions still intact on Earth, it’s only because most of the Borg focused on Earth Spacedock... Oo

That thought was so thoroughly depressing, Gila immediately repressed it.

Sadar: I’ll, uh, take that under advisement, though I doubt I’ll have much time for sightseeing, considering the state of Earth’s crisis sites... ::wrings her hands nervously:: I-I’m relieved that the Artemis wasn’t hit as hard… Though I was concerned when I saw the state of Deck 1 on the shuttle’s approach. ::awkward pause:: Is it true that wasn’t the Borg’s doing?

Commander Adea’ face twisted into that concerning grimace that Gila had come to associate with mischievous glee, and in turn, she felt her brows knit slightly together in confusion. She failed to see how the Ready Room’s wall being blown out was amusing.

Adea: That’s what I’ve heard. Rumour has it that a certain admirer of hers had overestimated her tolerance for spicy food.

Gila blinked. Was that some kind of code for something?

Sadar: ... Spicy food?

Her confusion evidently convinced Commander Adea to cease and desist with his joking deflections, as he shook his hand with a contained laughter.

Adea: No, no, I don’t actually have any insider information. ::Suddenly serious:: If you need any help down there, please do get in touch. As the humans say, mi sickbay es su sickbay.

Sadar: Th-Thank you, Sir... ::blinks:: Uhh. The universal translator didn’t translate that properly. What does it mean?

Adea: No idea, but it sounds great.

That comment did manage to elicit the slightest smile from Gila as she nodded slowly.

Sadar: As you say, Sir. And thank you again. ::slowly rises:: I’ll, uhh... I’ll make sure to leave my station here in order before heading planetside. If the situation here on the Artemis deteriorates-

Adea: Response

Sadar: O-Of course. ::shuffles anxiously:: I, uhh... I’m glad you made it through in one piece, Commander.

Adea: Response

Gila nodded slowly, a sense of finality pressing down upon her, as she looked at the Betazoid Commander seated behind the desk. She might have reservations about how he conducted himself in crisis situations, and she definitely didn’t understand him as a person, but all in all, serving under Commander Adea had been an interesting experience...

Sadar: Thank you, Sir.

And then, Gila turned about and exited the CMO’s office, checking off another item on her list.
