Now that Kyle Morgan had made sure that Natasha understood the difference between being a hero and acting out of negligence, the security officer took the opportunity to turn the tables and inquire about a point of particular nuisance to the interim CMO.
Cole: ::looking past the Doctor inquisitively:: Doctor are you aware there is a rock attached to the ceiling of your office?
He smiled and nodded, feigning enthusiasm.
Morgan: Actually, there are several rocks adorning various crevices of my office. You didn't put them there, did you?
Cole: Not my style, or prevue Doctor. Plus it would be foolish if I had, for me to be the one to draw your attention to it.
His smile relaxed, appearing more genuine this time.
Morgan: Good. I would have hated to violate my Hippocratic Oath today.
Cole: And no one would want that, otherwise Doctor Bancroft might end up in charge.
Kyle smiled again, a bit perturbed by the ordeal.
Morgan: The great mystery of 2402, apparently. You know, if you fancy yourself some investigative work, technically we could consider this a breach of security protocol... given the access to sensitive records anyone who was in the office might have had...
Cole: That would fall to me to investigate then. Are you done with your exam?
Morgan: I don't have anything significant to note, so if you don't have any particular complaints, you're free to go.
Natasha hopped off the Biobed and retrieved a small PADD from her trousers.
Cole: Just out of curiosity, rocks don’t normally appear in sterile environments, do they? I mean, unless someone ordered “boulder therapy” and forgot to sign the release form.
Morgan: I highly doubt it. After all, rocks don't just sprout legs and walk...
Cole: Any unusual experiments run recently interdepartmental wise between Medical and Science? I heard a rumor about one that resulted in mint flavored hyposprays, breathtaking, but I heard it left a rash.
Morgan watched as Natasha walked around Sickbay tapping the side of her PADD, then nodded.
Morgan: It did. Even though it tasted great, we discontinued it promptly.
Cole: That’s good thinking. It’s just… ::tilts her head, pretending to think:: You didn’t happen to notice any of your staff carrying in a suspicious bag, did you? Or humming ‘We Will Rock You”?
His brow furrowed as he thought. Nothing came to mind.
Morgan: Humming? No, no humming. Though I heard Captain MacKenzie got quite a concert here via Sam Richards and Ensign Jaran... As far as I know, "We Will Rock You" wasn't on their set list.
Cole: ::leaning in as if to whisper:: Between us, Doctor… Did you lose a bet with the Science department?
Morgan: Lose a bet? No... The only time I see anyone from science is when they come in when an experiment goes wrong...
Cole: Oh, Doctor, just one last thing… those rocks, they wouldn’t happen to match the samples from the geology lab, would they?
He thought for a moment.
Morgan: I'm not sure - I wouldn't know anything about that, but certainly you could take one and see if there's a match? Unless someone smuggled them on board?
Cole: It’s funny, people tend to forget we have passive security systems that record everything.
He smirked.
Morgan: I like the way you think, Ensign.
Cole: Response
Morgan: I knew you were the right person for the job. Not a priority, no, although it's a bit of a security concern knowing that someone might have had access to my office...
Cole: Response
He smiled and shrugged.
Morgan: Whatever you say, Ensign - I leave it in your capable hands. Let me know if there's anything I can to do help. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to testing my pitching arm with these rocks and whoever planted them...
He was joking.
Sort of.
Cole: Response
