(( Elysium Mezzanine, USS Artemis-A ))

Genkos leaned back and pointed at Bergmen with one forefinger whilst the rest of his hand held his rapidly emptying glass of sapphire wine. A waiter passed, and Genkos indicated that he would like a refill, at the waiter’s convenience.

Adea: So you’re more the fun-loving type, rather than the stoic, curious Vulcans?

Bergmen: Hh-hmm ::tilts head to the side:: Not entirely, but from a certain perspective... ::straightens head:: Yeah, I see why you would put it that way. But the truth is the galaxy is a sad place. We need more happiness and positivity, and provide others the opportunity to see the better tomorrow.

Bergmen took a bite of his bread, and then threw the rest of it back in the bowl, clearly dissatisfied. Genkos raised his eyebrow at the reaction.

Bergmen: Meh, that pita is feeling all rubbery, and the shakshuka has turned into a gelatinous mess. ::smiles:: See. Sad, sad galaxy is around us.

Adea: And yet, ::his arms spread wide, acknowledging the officers at the surround tables:: in the midst of sadness, we find joy.

Bergmen: ::sighs:: Yeah. Right. When we speak here, now and here... ::grin:: I didn’t want to, but I’ll ask. You are a rank, right? Did you hear anything about what's planned after we restock everything and everyone from the station? Anything about our next mission? I ask because there is quite a lively discussion about where we will go from here on the lower decks.

Genkos saw the waiter was approaching with his next drink, and he took it from them, a smile given back in thanks. Briefly raising it in Bergmen’s direction, he took a sip as he considered his response to the question. What was the lower deck obsession with knowing about “the next mission”? He’d experienced it on every ship he’d served on, and he’d never found a satisfactory way to phrase “we won’t know until we know”.

Adea: I’m not certain - I believe there’s a few supply runs we might need to help out with, but other than that, I couldn’t say.

Bergmen: Response

Adea: We are a reactive vessel - we respond to problems. We’re not like some of the other vessels in the fleet who go out and explore, we’re very much rooted here in the Borderlands.

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
