((The Old Inn, Canterbury, UK, Earth))
Genkos shook his head and raised a singular finger. The human need to dismiss emotions was one of his least favourite things about the species. That and their innate desire to always wear clothes.
Adea: In my experience, you, well not just you, a lot of people really, spend so much time het up about their feelings that they don’t actually process the why or how of their current emotions. So tell me, what is it that you’re thinking so much about?
Vitor took another long sip, finishing his gin. He raised the glass, signalling for another and put it down. Genkos wondered if that was that “courage in a bottle” he’d heard about from Jo in the past.
Silveira: You should know by now that thinking and feeling are almost apart in me. You really want to know? ::Vitor shrugged and leaned forward.:: I have a growing feeling over Nan. And I fumbled things with her. And hurt her and I am an idiot. She thinks I might be… Projecting my feelings. But… No… I don’t think I am.
Genkos blinked a few times in confusion… Was Vitor admitting he had feelings for his grandmother..?
Adea: I didn’t realise she was still around?
Vitor frowned, apparently surprised. Genkos realised he was clearly making an assumption too far.
Silveira: Nan… Jovenan. I always called her Nan. Who were you thinking?
Genkos let out a short laugh of relief, but then attempted a serious face. This was a Deep and Meaningful Talk after all.
Adea: It doesn’t matter.
Vitor rolled his eyes and shook his head. He picked up the newly served gin and took a long sip, before speaking again. Genkos steepled his hands in front of himself as he listened.
Silveira: OK, then with full names now. I have growing feelings for Jovenan, but she thinks I am projecting what I felt for Jovenan. She vehemently stated that. Even after I told her I can tell them apart. And they aren’t that much alike. I never had a chance to know Jovenan as I know Jovenan. I have proudly seen her become a magnificent officer. Strong, smart, positive and… Well anyway I messed it up when I replied to Jovenan she couldn’t ever replace Jovenan.
If Genkos hadn’t known that Vitor had had a very brief relationship with the Jovenan from the Shintiverse, he would have been completely lost. But he was aware of their feelings, and doubly so that she had died sacrificing herself for the crew of the Artemis. He felt a pang of guilt as he realised his own double was still out there somewhere.
Adea: Oh Vitor, I can understand that. From both your points of view. Sure, you’re starting to develop feelings for Jovenan, it makes sense. But look at it her side - she might feel like you’d be comparing her to her counterpart. And that woman died for us, was a martyr for us. Our Jovenan could never live up to that.
Silveira: Response
Genkos held up a pale white palm.
Adea: No, no, I’m not saying you would be. But she’s going to feel like that - it’s only natural. My suggestion would be to leave it alone for a while, let things settle for a bit. You’re both a bit raw, and it’s only natural we want to wiggle our tongue over a raw nerve, but you have to remember. It also hurts.
