(( Captain’s Ready Room – Deck 1, USS Artemis-A ))

The topic of the captain's interrogation had switched to something far more pleasant, and Gnai was glad to talk about shore leave plans. There was a lot to see in this region of the Galaxy, especially since it had been such a surprise to end up here. Gnai had ideas of what exactly might be fascinating to see within the area that the Artemis was assigned to, but out here? There were endless possibilities, and it hadn't had the time to narrow down an itinerary. Better to just go off the cuff then, so to speak. An interesting phrase, for someone who had never and would likely never wear a shirt.

That didn't go to plan either, sadly. Getting the captain's approval seemed like an immensely difficult task, even when just talking about simple things like travel plans.

MacKenzie: The Badlands are certainly an interesting corner of space, but also dangerous. While I’m sure the prospect of scientific exploration is enticing, it might not be the best idea to make a trek like that...

Gnai: Hm. Yes. That makes sense... Perhaps just the wormhole then. That should be plenty interesting to fill free time on this shore leave. oO What with the housekeeping that came with transferring to a ship... Oo ::pause:: Have you ever been through the wormhole, sir?

MacKenzie: I have, but it’s been a long time. Getting to see inside the wormhole is worth the trip alone.

Gnai: Yes, exactly. Everyone who has seen it has said similar things... That the experience is not something that they can put into words, and that there's nothing else like it in the galaxy. It will certainly be something fascinating to experience!

That seemed like the right thing to say, going by the captain's smile. Good.

MacKenzie: Well, it sounds like you have plenty in mind to occupy your time. There’s no need for me to occupy any more of it!

Gnai: You were not taking up much time, sir! This was supposed to meet you anyways... but hadn't figured out how to schedule such a thing. Thank you, sir.

Gnai stood up, and made its way to the door. What a staggering meeting - meeting its CO for the first time after being imprisoned together was already a bit of a shock to the system. Being interrogated by her, almost immediately after formal introductions? Even more surprising. And then she had ended the interaction with a glowing recommendation for the Bajoran wormhole, as if nothing else had been said. This was going to be an interesting posting, Gnai was certain.

MacKenzie: Welcome aboard the Artemis, Ensign.

Gnai: ::turning to face MacKenzie again:: Thank you, sir!

With that, it left the ready room, hustling to get back to the duties it had for shore leave. There was so much to do, so much to plan. The ship was bustling, various groups of people moving around to fix things that had fallen into disarray, or dressed casually and headed towards shuttles and transporters for the station and beyond. As much as it had been tossed into the deep end with the mission, and struggled to stay afloat during the captain's interrogation... Gnai was excited. The ship was still new to it, but it already was starting to feel a little like it belonged here. As strange as that seemed.

End scene for Gnai! :D
