((Operations Center, Deck 5 - USS Artemis))
A quick interception of a gold shouldered officer and a finger snap later, Charlotte had found her willing participant to help her out. With the end of leave looming on the horizon, she still felt like she had a lot to go over.
Brexis: I did have a few questions about some of the logistics and readiness of the ship. Are you available to run over some of that with me?
Bergmen: Of course, Lieutenant, that can do. You are in the right place.
She smiled and held out her hand to gesture in a vague direction.
Brexis: Wherever you want to start. It’s imperative that I understand how ready the ship is for emergencies, combat and just overall logistics.
With a returned smile, Bergmen led them to the nearest desk.
Bergmen: Okay, Lieutenant. Nothing is easier than that.
Brexis: That’s what I like to hear.
He leaned over the table and brought out a stack of PADDs and began to stack them one into a pile. Charlotte folded her arms over her chest and gave Bergmen a bemused look.
Bergmen: I will just need you to fill a couple of forms… ::picks the stack turns to face Brexis, and begins to pass them over:: This one needs to be signed by your division chief with a qualified signature certificate, not the seal. This one you need to fill yourself, so we can add you to the system… This is an informal request for the topics you require us to collect… and the last one is for us to access the database so we can confirm you have the clearance to get what you ask for. After you bring them to me, we will immediately begin collecting the information and return to you within 30 days if everything is properly filled out and documented.
Before she could even call him on his bluff, she caught his smile. Charlotte had a feeling that it wasn’t often this particular officer was able to pull a fast one over on anyone. Making a mental note that pranks were probably not in his regular forte. A small part of her took pity on him and kept her expression as neutral as possible.
Brexis: Are you actually insane?
Lieutenant Bergmen then burst out into laughter. Hard, bent in half, unable to breathe laughter. An amused smirk crossed her face as she waited for him to compose himself. He was clearly highly impressed with the joke. She had to give him credit where it was due. At least he had a good laugh. Contagious even.
Bergmen: Got you whole, Lieutenant, on your face! You should see your expression right now!
Brexis: ::Unconvingingly:: You sure pulled one over on me. ::chuckling:: Good one.
Bergmen: But now, for real, I will still need you to fill out and sign one of those… this? No, this one, Request for collections - the information of interest, yeah, this one.
She took the PADD and gave him a nod.
Brexis: Thanks.
Bergmen: Take your time, you can fill it here. When you are ready, we can begin, ok?
With a simple nod, Charlotte sat down at the desk and got to work filling out the form. It didn’t take long, which was great because PADD work was the most annoying part of the job.
She summoned Bergmen back over to her.
Brexis: ::Handing him the PADD:: Here you go. All filled out.
Bergmen: Response
She gestured to the other seat at the desk.
Brexis: Yeah, if we could give it a look over I’m sure I will have questions as we go.
Bergmen: Response
A part of her wished she had gotten a second round of Espresso before heading to OPs. The initial “looking things over” was inherently boring. Important. But boring.
Brexis: ::Pointing to a section on the PADD:: How often are these diagnostics run? Does someone go over the scans every time? And is that something Chief K’Wara does?
Bergmen: Response
TAG/TBC!
