(( Karnack Crashsite - Callis I ))

Getting Ensign Syn to the crashsite was a challenge, but Nat and Charlotte had taken turns guiding them. The last several days had been more exhausting than she had expected.

Their encounters with the local’s had fortunately been very limited. The longer they were on Callis 1, Nat could feel a fuzziness in her senses, she presumed it was because of their long term exposure to well … everything.

Seeing the crew approach from the ruins of the city had renewed that sense of hope, like when the Captain had revealed her discovery. She couldn’t wait to hear how they managed to get there. She suspected it might involve tunnels, since they had found at least one in the area.

(( Karnack Engineering - Deck 4 - USS Karnack))

Looking around the deck, Natasha felt a sense of relief at the sight of everyone, even if they all looked rougher than usual. Seeing Roy warmed her heart, and the thought of sharing her recent medical experience with him made her crack a subtle smile as Captain Mackenzie spoke to everyone assembled.

MacKenzie: Response

Munro: Getting the shield emitters to mimic the properties of a Faraday Cage long enough to get us out of the system is going to be no mean feat. Especially since we have no operational systems. But I think we can do it - if we can figure out a way to replicate the Faraday Cage effectively. Brexis, Bergmen, Breys, we'll need your help getting this set up.

Bergmen/Brexis/Breys: Response

MacKenzie: Response

Munro: That's true. Even if the shield emitters work, we won't get far with the Karnack in this state.

Jovenan/Silveira: Response

Munro: Agreed. Bring Storm, Bancroft and Syn with you, and get those holes fixed. But be careful, the Things are still out here, and as it gets dark, they'll get more daring.

MacKenzie: Response

K'Wara: We won’t get very far with Main Engineering in this state, either, Sirs. While the warp core is stable, it’s hardly safe for use at the moment.

Munro: In its current state the warp core power distribution would likely cause a cascade failure. We're more likely to blow up the ship and this corner of the planet than get off this planet. Tamio, work with Imril to find a workaround, I don't think I need to tell you how important it is :: pauses :: Cole and Jaran, you're temporarily reassigned as technicians :: smiles :: Congratulations.

Cole: ::nodded:: Grandpa Dorian, would be so proud.

Jaran: Responses

((OOC: keeping for any short reunion moments))

Natasha turned to look at Roy and before he could say anything, she grabbed him into a hug.

Bancroft: Response

Cole: I’m … ::pause:: Yeah. Just… tired.

Bancroft: Response

K’Wara: I’m glad to see you’re both alright. ::smiles:: Despite the circumstances.

Cole: We had our challenges ::glances to Charlotte:: but we managed.

Brexis: Response

K’Wara: I’ll hold you to that. I’m not quite ready to put down roots here yet. ::slight grin:: Too drab.

Cole:  I’ve had my fill of this unsettling place.

Brexis: Response

Natasha started to reach out to Charlotte but stopped herself

Cole: ::to Charlotte:: … Be Careful.

As she turned to follow Lieutenant K’Wara she paused for a moment and watched Charlotte leave with the Captain and the rest of her team. The last week and a half had deepened their friendship.

Lieutenant K’Wara nodded at those remaining, placing their palms on their hips. After a brief moment they repositioned themselves, before addressing those assigned to their team.

K’Wara: Imril, do we have an estimate on how much of Main Engineering is functional beyond the warpcore?

Imril: Response

K’Wara: ... We’re going to have to be conservative for now. ::looks around:: The only working consoles that I can see are the ones on the nacelle access. ::considers:: Natasha, if we use your security codes to trigger the quarantine forcefield around Engineering, do you think we can alter that to be more Maelstrom-resistant?

Cole: ::thinking:: That could work, similar to layering shields. I like it, but my work around won’t be elegant.

K’Wara: It’ll have to do. We just need it to work long enough for us to make more permanent fixes. ::to Jaran:: I know you’re hurt, Doctor, but there’s quite a lot of work to do. You’re up for it, I hope?

Jaran: Response

K’Wara: ::grins:: All right then. ::to everyone:: We’re on a time crunch. The other teams’ efforts depend entirely on us being able to get proper power running through the Karnack, and this is where we start. Let’s get to it.

Nat moved over to the consoles by nacelle access and plugged her security codes and got an error message almost immediately. Looking over what she had typed, she realized she had typed her codes wrong.

Cole: ::to herself:: get it together, Nat.

She focused through the mental static entering her codes a second time, The error tone felt louder than it should have. She entered it again. This time making sure it was correct, the system was a bit sluggish but responsive.

Imril/Jaran: Response

Natasha was able to pull up the emergency quarantine protocols. As she looked over their options to modify the parameters of the quarantine force fields, the numbers were concerning. She ran them again to be sure, but the numbers didn’t lie. There was going to be a risk.

Imril/Jaran/K’Wara: Response

Cole: Good news ::beat:: and a bit of bad news. Good news, I can access the emergency quarantine protocols and it should work, but it’s going to take a minute to get working, and to do it we’re going to bleed just under seven percent of our already limited power.

Imril/Jaran/K’Wara: Response
