(( Sunset at Temtibi Lagoon - Risa ))
Talos was in paradise, perched atop an inflatable unicorn floatie with a glorious pink mane, and it seemed like he'd mostly smoothed things over with Gila’s surly Bajoran friend. All in all, life was pretty good.
Dakora: I’ve got no problem with science. ::He shrugged.:: The science of data collection and analysis was– is my bread-and-butter as an Intel Officer. But I don’t know if you’d catch me sneaking a cheeky scan of some glowing algae, just for giggles.
Gila's small, almost imperceptible movement was his first clue that he'd made a mistake. The second was the sudden wave of irritated feelings that washed over him. He quickly added to his statement.
Dakora: Bu-but I’m impressed by your curiosity! Both of you!
Vailani: I … I …
But before Zoyara could really lay into him, Gila threw herself in between them like a not-quite-human shield.
Sadar: Th-Thank you, Lt. Commander. ::anxious looks between the two:: I-I know you’ve a-always appreciated any inputs I might have, e-even if you are c-concerned with my, uhhh... ::scrambles for word:: ‘Extraordinary’ work ethic. ::wrings her anxiety band:: Th-Though, Vai-net, m-maybe we should try something purely extra-curricular?
Grinning sheepishly once again, he nodded, appreciatively to Gila and then neutrally to Zoyara.
Vailani: Maybe we should paint these horg’ahns? I need something to put in my new quarters anyway. All of my belongings were blasted into space during the Siege of DS33.
Naturally, it had been his idea, but his hilarious plan had been foiled by the Mizarian Doctor's obsessively attentive study habits. Still, even if they wouldn't be caught roaming around Risa looking like they were seeking Jamaharon, it could still be fun.
Dakora: Sure. That sounds good to me. ::He looked to Gila:: How about you?
Sadar: I-I can find a class with open seats for us. ::looks around:: Is there anything else that would be valuable research material?
And just like that, it was a plan. Even if the workaholics wanted to squeeze a little more science in on the way out.
Vailani: I have room for one more sample, I figured we could take a sample from the dried kelp on the rocks as we leave?
Sadar: G-Good idea! It might be interesting to see what effect the lack of hydration has on the light-absorbent faculties of the flora here.
He shrugged and waved them on.
Dakora: Sample away! I’m not in a hurry.
Talos paddled along lazily behind them as they took their final samples until it seemed like they’d just about wrapped up.
Dakora: All done? ::He slid off his unicorn float:: Let’s go then!
He began to swim for the shore with powerful strokes. A decade of squeezing in surfing whenever he visited an appropriate aquatic world and a strict fitness regimen had resulted in Talos being a very strong swimmer. From behind him, he heard their Bajoran friend call out.
Vailani: :: stubborn :: No :: heaves in a breath :: Don't slow down for me :: determined :: I can keep up.
Talos grinned and shook his head as he slowed his paddling a little. He glanced back over his shoulder and saw Gila closing the gap with the shorter-limbed Bajoran in case she needed any assistance.
The shore wasn’t too far, so he wasn’t too concerned.
Dakora: Just a little further! ::He called back over his shoulder.:: You’ll make it.
Vailani: Response
Finally reaching an area he could touch, he stood and began walking up onto the beach. The others weren’t far behind and Talos turned back to look at Gila as he plodded toward his previously discarded shirt.
Dakora: So, other than squeezing a little science in with your fun here, how has your shoreleave been? ::He raised an eyebrow.:: I hope you’re taking my advice seriously.
Sadar: It’s, uhh... It’s not been bad? I’ve managed to get a fair bit of work done- ::realizes:: a-and, o-of course, I-I’ve taken, eh, measures to ensure I get an appropriate level of rest and relaxation as well, Sir!
Talos nodded with a grin as he reached the picnic table and threw the Hawaiian shirt back on over his tattooed frame. He didn’t bother buttoning it– it was Risa, after all.
Dakora: Good. It’s important. ::He cocked his head.:: How’s the workload on sickbay been, anyway?
Vailani: Response
Sadar: Thus far, the crew has been... Behaving? Beyond some hangover medication, I’ve not been alerted as to anything more serious. ::suddenly suspicious: Why?
Not wanting to say that he’d had to seek treatment for some Jamaharon-related muscle soreness the last time he’d visited Risa, Talos quickly changed the subject.
Dakora: Oh, nothing. Just asking. ::He clapped his hands together.:: Now, how about those Horg’ahns!?
Vailani: Response
Sadar: Response
((OOC: Happy to end the scene here and let the Horga’hn painting happen off screen or keep it rolling, whatever y’all are feeling!))
