(( Corridor - Deck 03 - USS Artemis-A ))
PADD in hand, Zoyara made her way through the inner sections of the ship and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that she'd finally managed to get to Sector 17. It was short-lived.
Compartment 01. She had to find Compartment 85. She continued her trek through the ship, thankfully all she had was a lightly packed Starfleet issue backpack that had been slung over one shoulder, and a small box tucked under her arm.
All that was left of her life on the Ronin. Given that her former quarters were destroyed during the Siege of DS33 and its contents were currently littering the galaxy she should probably be grateful that she even had this.
Thankfully she wasn't one for materialism and most of her belongings could be replicated. The things of value; the necklace she wore under her uniform and the gift from Luxa, a small statuette depiction of herself were safe.
She missed her d’ja pagh and would need to visit a temple at some point to have a new one blessed. She, of course, hadn't told her mother or father about her reckless decision to airlock the one that she had been given as a child. It was a moment of despair, a rebellious push back on her perceived cruelty of the Prophets.
She regretted it, and felt a flush of shame at the memory. Given her recent encounter with the Prophets on Bajor, which she had yet to properly reflect on, she felt a renewed sense of appreciation of her spirituality. The Prophets did listen and she couldn't deny that now.
Compartment 85. Her name has already been etched on to the panel next to the door:
VAILANI ZOYARA, CHIEF OF OPERATIONS
A surge of pride warmed her and she placed her hand on the panel whilst nervously looking in both directions of the corridor to ensure that no one could witness such a display of insipid sentimentality.
The doors whooshed open and she stepped inside.
((Vailani Zoyara Quarters - 1785 - Deck 03 - USS Artemis-A))
The standard Starfleet furniture had already been positioned in the room. A comfortable sofa, with a coffee table, had been set against the wall directly opposite the door she had just come through.
Immediately to her left, there was a desk with a terminal. The far left corner was the kitchenette and the dining table and chairs. To her right was another door to the bedroom, and the bathroom area.
She dropped her bag on the coffee table and took a breath. This was it. Another place to call home.
She opened the door to the bedroom, and placed neatly folded on the bed were several Artemis uniforms, which were the same version the Ronin used. She unfurled the one on top and noted that one of them was the skant variant. She pressed it against herself.
She had never worn the skant before but perhaps it was time for a change.
((Some time later))
After a quick shower, she slipped into the skant uniform. Applied her combadge to the uniform and smoothed out the lower part of the uniform.
In the mirror she could see herself and somehow it all seemed like a dream. She placed the gold coloured hair band that she had taken to wearing to keep her loose blonde hair from falling into her face.
It was now time for business.
((Operations Centre - Deck 05 - USS Artemis-A ))
Zoyara entered the operations departmental territory and was immediately taken aback by the size of it. The Ronin had squeezed its operations division into every nook and cranny so it was a refreshing change to have a facility that was designated to shipwide operations.
The main room had various desks and terminals, a door straight ahead with a sign that told her that this was the upper level of the Computer Core, there were other doors to her left and right that had other functions.
She approached a dark haired man.
Vailani: Lieutenant, do you know where the Chief of Operations office is?
Bergmen: Response
Vailani: Well … you are looking at her :: in greeting :: Lieutenant Vailani, nice to meet you.
Bergmen: Response
Zoyara was eager to get started and she fixed the officer with a glare that was meant to convey that niceties had ended without being too rude. She really didn't want to get into another small talk situation.
Vailani: Have you got the current operations task list? I'd like to review duty assignments, rotations and individual projects. Are you able to provide me with any information on this?
Bergmen: Response
The Bajoran indicated that they should take a seat at one of the consoles as she began to bring up the relevant files.
Vailani: :: nods :: My understanding that the Chief engineer is on leave? Do we have any outstanding engineering jobs that have impacted our task lists?
Bergmen: Response
