((Counselor’s Office - Deck 7, USS Artemis-A))

The counselor gave him a sympathetic look.

Vhysa’lia: It’s fine to be nervous, Solas. Losing memories can be traumatic, even if said memories were potentially harmful to you. ::pause, setting down her PADD of notes on the desk, facedown, ready to focus entirely on him:: So, just to confirm, you truly have no memory of your time as a drone?

Kel: Well um, yes that’s right. I have no specific memories whatsoever of the time I spent as a drone. Commander Adea says this is highly unusual but I mean, well considering what the collective may have done on the ship, that’s a good thing isn’t it? Just the trauma of assimilation to unpack.

She nodded. But there was something slightly unnerving about it, like they could see right through him.

Vhysa’lia: You’re correct; not being privy to what your body did when it was a part of the Collective may in fact be helpful, if unusual. ::pause:: But you do recall getting assimilated, as you said, and I think that might be a useful place to start. If you feel comfortable, I’d like to hear your story. What the assimilation was like for you - but don’t feel like you need to relive it. Go into as much detail as you’re comfortable with at this time.

Solas’ bottom dropped out of his stomach. He had been afraid of that question. So, taking a deep breath, he began to recount his story.

Kel: It started at the same time as everyone else I think. But for some reason it didn’t come over me right away.

She nodded, and started to make some notes on her PADD..

Vhysa’lia: So the assimilation process for you wasn’t instant? I’ve been reading some more about others’ experiences with this… new sort of assimilation, and yours appears to be one of the outliers.

Kel: No, well it hit me instantly but I had enough time to try and fight it. I wasn’t gonna throw it off obviously but I was able to buy enough time for Savel to stun me and run.

Vhysa’lia: ::nodding, with a slight smile on her face:: I think that shows strong willpower, and sense of duty. Even when faced with something unknown and violating, like a sudden loss of control of your body, you were still able to focus yourself enough to try and combat it, saving the lives of the others in the room with you.

Solas looked at the floor and scratched his head.

Kel: I don’t know if I see it that way counselor. I mean if my willpower was really that strong, wouldn’t I have been able to throw it off completely? Not been a risk to anyone?

Vhysa’lia: Response

Solas sit back in his chair and stared at the floor. He hadn’t looked at it from that angle before but there was more than a little bit of truth to what the counselor was saying. He had gotten lucky having a moment to resist at all and he appeared to have used it very well.

Kel: Well I’m just glad Savel got away. I’m glad no one got hurt. I’m supposed to be keeping everyone safe right? I don’t know how I could live with myself if I’d gotten someone hurt.

Vhysa’lia: Response
