((Holodeck 2, Deck 2, Artemis-A))
Alex stood near the pedestal, her toes wiggling inside her boots. The longer she waited, the faster they wiggled. This could be a lot of fun…if she could get the ensign on board, but there was one thing she needed to make sure was cleared up first.
Storm: Have you already checked in with medical since you’ve come aboard? I would assume so, since you were on the Karnack with us.
Breys: I spoke with medical some, but they were so preoccupied with the problems from Callis that I barely got a once over otherwise.
So she had been seen. Alex searched the records attached to Brey’s file. Her mouth quirked to the side. She looked up at the Science Officer and back down to the PADD, pressing a few more buttons.
Still nothing.
Storm: I don’t see it attached to your file. I just wanted to make sure that you’ve been cleared by medical before our little exercise today…in case we end up climbing a rock wall somewhere along the way.
Alex tapped the PADD against her leg as she listened to the newly minted Ensign.
Breys: It has to be somewhere, I got the scan, I’ve been working shifts for weeks.
The anxiety rolled off the ensign like a fog rolling into San Francisco. She raised the PADD again.
Storm: Do you know when you were seen or which doctor saw you? I could search for it that way.
Breys: What about other new Ensigns? Maybe my physical got mixed with theirs?
Alex offered Breys a calm smile.
Storm: Let me try that, though I’m less than certain I’d find it that way.
Alex ran a query. There were at least a dozen new ensigns and transfers from other ships since they had returned from Callis I.
Storm: I’m not sure I have time to sift through all of these files. There are a fair few.
Breys: I’m sorry sir I don’t know if we’re going to find that check up.
Storm: Hmmm...
Alex's eyes unfocused as she searched for an alternative to marching the ensign down to sickbay to have them run another scan.
Storm: I’m not sure I can run the phaser qualification without it.
Breys: Wait! Maybe try looking for the scan of my brain files? I bet you my physical is in a subfolder of that.
Alex raised an eyebrow at D’tin.
Storm: Inside your brain scan? Why would it be there?
But after opening her medical file and the subfolders, sure enough, there it was. Alex looked up at the ensign and back down at the file, wondering if the Science Officer had been tinkering with it, hence the location.
Storm: Well, why it’s there of all places, I suppose, is irrelevant at this moment. You are medically cleared, so we can get started.
Breys: Response
Alex walked to the pedestal and exchanged her PADD for a phaser. Holding it by the barrel, she handed it over to Breys.
Storm: Check the settings. Make sure it’s set to stun.
Breys: Response
Alex watched the young woman change the settings.
Storm: Good, now let me see how you’d stand if you planned to fire the phaser.
Breys: Response
