((Main Sickbay, Deck 7 - USS Artemis-A))

Genkos always found talking to Vulcans a little troublesome, as their lack of emotions (or lack of display of emotions) was completely alien to his own Betazed upbringing. However, he was to be on his best behaviour around this particular member of the senior staff.

Adea: And you’re settling in okay, no problems finding your way around?

Salkath: The computer contains a comprehensive and accurate directory, yes. Navigating has been no issue.

There was a pause as presumably Salkath parsed Genkos’ meaning.

Salkath: I mean, the crew of the Artemis has been proficient in assisting me in acclimating aboard. Especially impressive considering the collective trauma experienced by all.

Adea: I am glad to hear it… That you’re settling in I mean, not that we’ve all had collective trauma.

Salkath: If I understand correctly, everyone is relatively new to this ship. It was recommissioned just a year ago. Have you 'settled in' as well?

Genkos’ eyebrows rose and he let out a long breath as the full weight of time fell upon him.

Adea: Has it only been a year… I guess it has… wow - humans are right - time does fly.

Salkath: One must commend you for your efforts in making the transition smooth, then. You and the rest of the senior staff. I have seen crews struggle with a changeover in vessels before, but this crew seems stout.

Genkos nodded enthusiastically at that. He had known several crews during his time in Starfleet and this crew had to be up there in terms of the most resilient. And that was saying something, seeing as the Gorkon regularly lost percentages of their crew to Qs, crabs and nebulae.

Adea: This crew is one of the stoutest crews I’ve ever worked with, it’s true.

Salkath: Response

Genkos resisted the urge to look down at the PADD containing Salkath’s file because he didn’t want to know how old the Vulcan was - he wanted to make an educated guess based on the amount of service he’d done.

Adea: So you’ve served on a lot of ships then?

Salkath: Response

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
