((La’kso Canyon, Meranuge IV))

Luxa had positioned herself in the co-pilot seat next to Kader, she had test kits at her feet and her backpack was squeezed in beside her. She looked behind her at Jovenan and Savel, surrounded by the gear they have brought with them.

Many times she found herself piloting the Y'Kiran so she was happy to be helping Kader, although he clearly didn't need her help. All hands on deck was a common thing for a transport crew and everyone done their bit.

It was also a perfect position to watch the ascent to Meranuge IV.

The darkness of the space turned to light as they crossed the skies, and the wide terrain was revealed beneath them. After an uneventful albeit uncomfortable ride on the fully packed shuttlepod down from the orbit, the Perseus flew above the brown and yellow and orange canyon.

Luxa found herself being completely caught by the majestic, deep and high cliffs of the relatively narrow canyon, mostly bare rock but every now and then glittering with whichever plants dared to grow on those steep faces. Down in the canyon, a meagre river flowed past its ancient, grandiose handicraft. A few dwarf trees could be spotted growing by its shores, otherwise the land was barren on greenery.

Luxa began to run some basic scans, gathering data on the minerals, the plants and attempting to get more detailed, up to date, information of the terrain.

The Perseus landed smoothly at their designated site. The hatch opened with a small hiss, and Luca felt the warm, dry air enter the small pod. She inhaled a deep breaths enjoying the planets clean and natural air. Having to move some backpacks aside first, Jovenan stepped out and held her back.

Jovenan: Ugh, that’s definitely not my favourite way to travel.

Lorana: ::leaping from the shuttle and stretching her own back:: This is what Starfleet is all about!

Luxa heard the call of a bird and instinctively ducked down. She wondered if it was Savel's scaled monarch and kicked herself for not finding out more about the creature before entering its natural habitat.

Savel/Kader: Response

Jovenan looked around, and Savel had his binoculars out trying to locate the flying creature. Jovenan pulled her tricorder out of her belt.

Jovenan: We’re within the kelbonite deposit for sure. Scanners will be quite useless for now.

Savel: Since we are unfamiliar with the area, I recommend everyone be vigilant for potential threats.

Lorana: I took some orbital scans while we were descending, before the kelbonite could interfere with the scans. Nothing out of the ordinary. :: To jovenan quietly :: I'm glad we're getting a chance to do this together, I had been hoping to spend more time with you before shore leave finishes. I'm hoping we'll eventually be good friends - if you can handle me that is!

Luxa laughed, twirling her long braid, and tried to give a friendly smile to the Edo.

Jovenan: Response

Savel/Kader: Response

Checking the small side-pocket first, Jovenan flung her pack to her back. She quickly adjusted it better, evening the load on her shoulders.

Jovenan: Anyone want to tell a story while we walk? What’s something interesting you all have done and want to share?

Luxa pulled out her backpack, checked to ensure that nothing became dislodged in the shuttle. Ensured that they had the test kits secured before placing her backpack on to her back and adjusting the straps for comfort

Savel: Our journey reminds me of a Vulcan holiday, Kal Rekk. Are any of you familiar?

Lorana: Vulcans take holidays? I thought I'd be the joker of this group. I haven't heard of it, Savel. Why don't you tell us about it?

Jovenan/Kader: Responses

Savel: Response

Luxa looks to her PADD, confirming the designated route and motions to the group to follow along.

Again, far off, they hear the call of a bird. At first it did appear to sound like a bird, yet with Luxa's hearing, it sounded more like a screeching hiss. A rattling breath of air, coming from a large creature.

Lorana: Savel, what size is this creature of yours?

Savel: Response

Jovenan/Kader: Response
