((Taste of the Quadrants – Deck 229, Deep Space 224))
After feeling like she was mostly settled into her new family quarters with Talos, Sam needed a break. She loved Talos, but the further she got into her pregnancy, the more he… hovered. It started out as something cute and made her feel safe and protected. After a while it became a bit annoying, having him right there every time she turned around, asking if she needed something or how he could help. Kind of like a puppy, cute, but annoying.
Going out with Natasha to get something to eat It was a perfect opportunity to spend time with her and hopefully their Captain.
Cole: Do you think the Captain will take us up on our idea?
Sam shrugged.
Richards: I’m not sure. But I really do hope she does.
The sight the two walked up on was warm and inviting, but also a little bit strange. Many different cultural items were around the room, giving just a glimpse of home to whoever from wherever. It was a maximalistics dream as far as decor went.
Cole: This ::beat:: isn’t what I expected.
Richards: Me either. ::Shrugging:: Seems interesting enough.
She smiled and looked around just in time to see Captain MacKenzie walking up to them.
MacKenzie: Well, this is certainly something, isn’t it?
Richards: Yeah, ::glancing around:: It sure is.
Cole: Response
The smell of the food from the restaurant hit her. Whatever it was, it smelled delicious. One of the twins kicked at the same time her stomach growled. It was time to eat.
MacKenzie: I never turn down an invitation to try a new restaurant. It seems… eclectic.
Richards: Thanks for joining us. ::Smirking:: It’s fun to see you outside of the work environment.
Cole: Response
The trio entered through the door and were greeted with a dimly lit area with more of the colorful lanterns they had seen outside. MacKenzie spotted a booth in the corner and waved at Sam and Nat to follow.
Once they were seated in the booth the Captain bounced on the bench a few times while Sam got herself comfortable.
The menu was fairly robust. Almost too many options. She felt her stomach growl again.
MacKenzie: Anything catch your eye?
She looked up from her menu and looked at the Captain and then back down to the menu again before responding.
Richards: Honestly, it all sounds good. I do keep eyeing the Oskoid Salad. ::Letting out a breathy laugh:: I had no idea being pregnant with Betazoids would make me crave Betazoid food.
Cole: Response
Sam reached over to grab the ordering kiosk and very decisively ordered the salad and a water before sliding the kiosk across the table to sit where either of the other women could grab it next.
Richards: Captain- uh, MacKenzie, Captain MacKenzie. ::Raising her eyebrow:: What do we call you in a less ::gesturing around:: formal setting?
MacKenzie/Cole: Response
She nodded in understanding.
Richards: You got it. Anyway, I heard through the grapevine that this place serves an excellent Hasperat. I also heard– through a different grapevine– that you are a big fan of Hasperat.
Her smile was a bit prideful. It was in large thanks to a friend that she knew the bit of information about MacKenzie. Aine Sherlock had armed Sam with the information and it came in handy, just like Aine said it would.
MacKenzie/Cole: Response
Not wanting things to get quiet and awkward, Sam made an attempt to pivot the conversation.
Richards: So, you two have any fun plans for this shoreleave?
MacKenzie/Cole: Response
TAG/TBC!
