[End Act 1] Ensign Roy Bancroft - Knowns and Unknowns

(OOC: Just a short one today to close out my tags for Act 1. Thank you all for your patience - this was a surprise bear of a week at work wherein I ended up clocking something like 70 hours.)

Vahljeahn: One of the reasons we are so protected, and restrained, by the other Boraxians is exactly that. Our skills can help others in dealing with loss, injuries and pain.
Morgan: That sounds extraordinary…
Bancroft: Extraordinary’s one way to put it. I’d add surprising, confusing–
K’Wara raised a hand in a halting motion.
K’Wara: If you have healing abilities, how come the medics were talking about relying on medical machines to deal with the injuries?
Vahljeahn: It is hard to explain, we were never given the opportunity to learn about it.
Morgan cocked his head. Vahljeahn had a way of dancing around a point without ever seeming to make one, revealing just a glimpse of the truth so as to only ever cause more speculation about what the actual truth was.
Morgan: I don’t understand. You weren’t given the opportunity?
Vahljeahn nodded deeply, taking a moment to think before he spoke.
Vahljeahn: Boraxians treat us, Yurum, very well. But they tend to keep us… Protected. Overly protected. We aren’t allowed to learn simple crafts, we aren’t given the same citizenship rights. They respect us but it smoothers us.
Bancroft: ::softly:: Like a china doll…
K’Wara: ... Well, that’s starting to paint a picture.
Morgan: And that’s why you’re seeking asylum?
Vahljeahn: Yes it is. We wish to be free.
Roy nearly gave his opinion on the matter, then clamped his mouth shut. Nobody was looking for an Ensign’s opinion on freedom for asylum seekers.
K’Wara was about to ask a question but their commbadge chirped. They nodded to the group.
K’Wara: Hm. Excuse me a moment.
Morgan: So, why not just tell us about it?
Vahljeahn: That isn’t something that needs to be freely divulged. And that was one of the reasons why we wanted to assist Luirétt.
Bancroft: ::sternly, but not harshly:: I understand that much of this is unknown to you, and I also understand respecting the chain of command, but… Vahljeahn… keeping things from doctors trying to render aid to you could be deadly. I urge you to keep that in mind for the future.
K’Wara returned to the group in short order and reported an update.
K’Wara: ::quiet voice:: The Boraxians are here.
With all the new information they’d just learned about the Yurum coupled with the new look of despair on Vahljeahn’s face, Kyle knew the new wasn’t good…
Vahljeah: They caught us…
