(( Elysium Mezzanine, USS Artemis-A ))
Bergmen’s face was etched with shock, clearly he’d never heard of their good friends from the Shintiverse, by which I mean their mortal enemies. But Genkos ploughed on, listing their other enemies.
Adea: Not to mention the Suliban - they don’t like us much either.
The ensign dipped his pita bread into the falafel shakshuka before pushing the plate away.
Bergmen: No way! They are still around? I read about them in history books about the Federation's history… I think it was NX mission..? What are they like?
Bergmen rested his elbows on the table and propped his face up with his hands, leaning in closer to the commander. Genkos raised an eyebrow - the Suliban were still a clear and present danger, and he was surprised that Ollie hadn’t heard of their most recent activity, including the detonation of the Genesis Device that had destroyed the Resolution.
Adea: Well in general the Suliban are a lovely people, but there’s a few radical terrorist groups who are trying to rebuild the empire of Archer’s time - they’re desperate, dangerous people, with a penchant for spycraft.
Ollie listened intently, eagerly nodding as Genkos spoke. Looking at the younger ensign, Genkos realised that he had gotten older, and was now becoming viewed as a sage elder. He didn’t like that at all.
Bergmen: And I thought they were extinct… May I ask - how about nice things? Are there any nice things around, or is everything just grim and dark?
Genkos was reminded of his conversation with Gila in his office.
Adea: Of course, it’s only the odd mission that’s so dark and dangerous. The universe is a wonderful place, full of strange new worlds and brilliant new life. That’s what you have to remember during the dark times.
Bergmen: Response
Genkos sipped at his spring wine, savouring the bubbles.
Adea: You have to remember for every Borg, there’s five hundred wonderful species like the Da’al or the Skarn.

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
