((Crashed Jem'Hadar
Fighter - Outskirts of the Bantlox Colony, Laoi III ))
The trio investigating the Jem’Hadar fighter had managed to breach the vessel
and make their way to its command center. The orientation of the ship made it difficult
– being on its side meant needing to jump over corridor junctions, and now that
they were in the command center, it meant that they were essentially nose-down
with a collection of sharp weapons accumulated at the bottom. Suddenly, Kyle
was liking his decision to board the ship less and less, but here they were.
Vitor, at least, seemed more than willing to take his hand at finding the rifle
and the eyepiece for which they were searching.
Morgan: You get eyes on it?
Silveira: response
Kyle rubbed the back of
his neck.
Morgan: What are we hoping to accomplish with it?
Imril: Track down the emitter.
Inventory the disruptors, torpedoes, Houdinis and such. Maybe even locate the
self-destruct system so we don't have to rig anything to be rid of this
overgrown stink-bomb.
Silveira: Response
Kyle’s brow furrowed slightly. The command center looked pretty well wrecked.
He couldn’t see much, but it didn’t seem like any of the consoles would be
functional.
Morgan: And we think we’re gonna be able to do that here? Or can that eyepiece interface anywhere?
Imril: In addition to accessing the ship’s sensor net, the eyepiece should also function something like the exographic targeting sensor that comes with a Starfleet-issue sniper rifle. The ones that were built for the old TR-116s were inspired by what the DS9 crew learned of Dominion eyepieces when they had access to a ship like this. It should be able to look through all the walls of this ship, not just give us a view outside. Do things like lock in on active energy sources.Which we can use to, among other things, find the emitter.
Kyle nodded slowly, pretending to understand what Imril was talking about. He wasn’t sure if the look on his face gave him away or not.
Morgan: Uh huh…
Silveira: Response
Still, would they even know how to get it to do what they wanted it to? Imril
seemed to be up to speed on how the device functioned, but they still didn’t
know if they would find one, let alone the degree of functionality it
might hold when they did…
Imril: I wonder if looking at the
pieces of the rifle you kept through the lens will elicit a response? If it
registers the plasma bank or the secondary energy cell used to power the stun
setting, maybe we can trick it into tagging other energy sources?
Morgan: Can it do that? Seriously? …and after all these years?
Silveira: Response
Imril shrugged.
Imril: Everything is hypothetical until it’s tested. ::To Silveira:: I recommend you come back up here with us before we do anything with that thing. Do you need help climbing up?
Kyle offered Sil a hand and helped lift him back up to where he and Imril were standing.
Morgan: Hey, Sil – watch where you point that thing!
He was kidding – he didn’t
think he was in any real danger. …mostly.
Silveira/Imril: Response
Morgan: So, how do we use it?
Silveira/Imril: Response
Morgan’s brow furrowed again, and he pointed at the eyepiece, then the rifle.
To say that the doctor was out of his wheelhouse was a galactic understatement.
He was hoping Sil and Imril would be able to get the equipment up and moving,
if it was possible.
Morgan: Can you see anything…
helpful?
Silveira/Imril: Response
Tag, and TBC!
