The next orders were a gamble and he was fairly certain he would have to repeat them.
Vitor was so used to screwing things up and making amends that it was like a second nature. But now, what he was about to do, would likely have no return. And it was going to require sacrifice.

As always it was a gamble and as the Artemis swiftly navigated space, he thought of Nan.
And Jonathan. And Zie, Alex, Roy, Munro…
In that split second before he spoke everyone went through his head.

Silveira: Set us in position and power down shields and weapons.

Jetripar. Those murderous barbarians will take me!

Bergmen: ::confused:: Sir?

Imril: Firewall breached. I’m in.

Vitor was pretty sure that a shroud of silence covered the bridge, even with all the noise from a red alert operations bridge.

Silveira: Send this message and the data regarding the virus to the Nascaik ships =/\= This is Commander Silveira from the USS Artemis, we are here to help. I assume you're also suffering the effects of the Virus, and are placing ourselves in your fire line to prevent any loss of life as we keep working on a solution. Please just give us a little more time. Thank you=/\=

Vitor took a deep breath and turned facing the others.

Silveira: If they are being affected maybe the Virus won’t attack us. If they were in control and firing on the Afalqi hopefully they would stop, with us in their way.

Jetripar: I certainly hope you're right, Commander...

Bergmen: They didn’t open a channel to any of our hails, by us or virus, so they, with high probability, are not infected and in control.

Imril: I’ve cracked it. Viral quarantine in progress.

Vitor almost broke the silence with a sigh of relief. It felt nice to have good news for a change.

Jetripar. Allow me to speak with them. This is, after all, an idealogical battle as much as anything. This is my realm.

Bergmen: We can try, sir. They can receive, but just decided not to listen to us…

Imril: The virus is locked down. Purging now. Sending a copy of the final anti-virus program to Bergmen’s station for transmission.

They were in Nascaik territory and they couldn’t simply impose their will, or views to others. Even if they were right. The only chance the outcome of this mission was successful was if they worked on fair negotiations and open talks.
He looked first at Imril, smiled and nodded.

Silveira: Thank you Lieutenant Imril. Good job. ::Turning to Jetripar:: I would appreciate your effort Secretary Jetripar. ::he turned to Ol:: Lieutenant Bergmen open a channel.

Ol nodded and waited for Jetripar to take a position at the front of the viewscreen and at his signal to open the channel.

Jetripar: =/\= Good Nascaik people, I stand before you…

But suddenly a transporter beam caught the Da’al Secretary and the politician simply faded away before their eyes.

Vitor was caught fully off guard. It hit him like a football right in… between his legs.

Bergmen: They raised their shields and hold their target lock on us. Weapons energized. ::turns to Silveira:: Sir, they are calling us.

Imril reacted quickly, but Vitor was the one who should have thought of that first.

Imril: Crewman! Transport inhibitors!

Vitor walked straight to the viewscreen as it came to life with the face of a Nascaik

Nascaik: =/\= The Datal criminal has been taken, in accordance with Nascaik law. He will be held until his crime may be covered by another. =/\=

And then it went dark.
Vitor turned, fumming, not at the Nascaik but at his own mistakes.

Silveira: Hail them back, send the antivirus and confirm they are receiving.

Bergmen: Antivirus sent and received, sir.

Imril: ::returning to their station:: =/\= Imril to Transporter Room 1. Secretary Jetripar has been beamed to the Nascaik flagship. Get a transporter lock and standby for emergency beaming. =/\=

Transporter Operator: =/\= Aye, Sir. =/\=

Vitor nodded to Imril. Even if the Artemis was being mishandled by his mistakes, the rest of the crew kept working and doing their best.

Silveira: Good thinking Lieutenant Imril, Lieutenant Bergmen why can’t we talk to them?

Bergmen: Ehm, the problem is not our side, sir. (beat) We are on hold.

Vitor frowned. It was to be expected. He lowered his head and rubbed his neck.

Silveira: Figures. Keep the channel open anyway.

Bergmen: Response

Imril: ::quietly:: Commander, Transporter Room One reports that they can’t get a lock on Jetripar. The Nascaik ship has erected its own inhibitor signal.

Vitor shrugged and walked to the center seat.

Silveira: As expected. I would likely done the same if I was in their shoes.

Bergmen: Response

Imril: ::Quietly:: I had the Transporter room send me its scan of the signal for analysis. On the up-side, I can confirm that the virus has been completely expunged from the Artemis. I’ll start deleting my sim generators to clear up processing speed to work the new problem.

Vitor finally let out the sigh of relief he was holding back.
With one long breath he finally turned and sank down in the Captain’s seat.

Silveira: Small blessings…

Bergmen: Response

Vitor leaned back and let himself think for a second before speaking.
Right now he was down and there wasn’t much else to do regarding Jetripar.
He looked at the Captain’s console and wondered where the “Airlocking button” was.
Likely when Zie returned he would learn first hand.

But as the warhorse he was he couldn’t just lay there.
Although that was what he likely had to do. At least for now.

Silveira: Okay… Now that I fumbled Diplomacy 101 let’s see how we can amend that.
Helm hold us steady.
Lieutenant Imril keep trying to find Secretary Jetripar but your priority is to clean up the sims from the system. I want the Artemis back in it’s pre-virus condition as quickly as possible.
Lieutenant Bergmen get me a lock on the Afalqi, try and find the away teams positions.

Imril/Bergmen: Response

Silveira: When possible I want a lock on the Afalqi and I want to close in to transporter range.

Imril/Bergmen: Response

Silveira: And keep a channel open for the Nascaik. I want them to know what we are intending on doing.

Imril/Bergmen: Response
