(( Ops Center, Deck 5, USS Artemis ))

They say the final touch is always the most crucial. Ollie certainly believed that as he reviewed his presentation to Artemis' COO regarding the refit and reconstruction of the operations center. When else could JG Bergmen have seized the opportunity to advocate for his idea of a total OPSC refit to boost departmental efficiency, especially now that they were facing the task of rebuilding five decks, including the one housing the Operations Center?

Bergmen: Let’s see… yea, looks good. ::smiles::

The Lieutenant was pleased with himself.  Everything looked great, and all that remained was to attend the meeting and make sure he didn’t drop the ball at the final hurdle. After saving his presentation, Ollie opened the shared department calendar to find a free half-hour slot on his supervisor's schedule. With a few clicks, he sent out the meeting request, feeling confident about what lay ahead.

So when his combadge beeped after a couple of minutes, he eagerly answered the call from his expectant Operations boss, only to be met with an unexpected voice on the other end.

Meris: =/\= Ensign Meris to Lieutenant Bergmen. =/\=

oO Meris… Meris… who? Oo

Channel filled in a moment of silence as JG Bergmen attempted to match the face with a name and voice, before Ollie spoke.

Bergmen: =/\= Bergmen here, how…how can I help you, ensign?

The lieutenant was still puzzled about who was trying to reach him as he accessed the crew’s personal files on the console in front of him, having no idea who Ensign Meris was.

Meris: =/\= I was hoping you had a moment. There’s a matter concerning my quarters I’d like to speak with you about. Minor, but irritating. It won't take up much of your time, I assure you. =/\=

Bergmen looked into the ensign's personal file and tried to figure out what could have been going on.

ENSIGN / MERIS / COMMAND DIVISION, HELMPERSON
Date of Birth: 237911.26
Age: 22
Species: J'Naii

Assigned to USS Artemis-A SD 240207.25 // Helmperson
Commissioned SD 240207.21 // Starfleet Academy

oO Jadi-Jadi-Jada…quarters…quarters…yea, here - deck five, sector zero-seven, compartment…zero-six…ok… let me see the room log…Oo

The lieutenant observed the spinning wheel as the system struggled to access the engineering database. Of course, it had to crash just when he needed it the most.

Bergmen: =/\= Okay, ensign, if there is something wrong with your room, just send me the ticket and I can look into it. My SSN is GB-503-838. =/\=

Ensign, on the other hand, appeared determined to tackle the issue not by the proposed ticket, but in person.

Meris: =/\= I was heading to Elysium. I thought it might be easier to explain in person. Perhaps you could join me for a drink? =/\=

Ollie checked the chronometer and shrugged his shoulders. Taking a break now was probably as good a time as any.

Bergmen: =/\= Ok, give me…five minutes…and I'll meet you there. Bergmen out. =/\=

(( Elysium – Main Lounge, Deck 6 – USS Artemis-A ))

Break or not, the lieutenant carried a stack of PADDs with him to review after his meeting with the ensign. A pleasant view, some peace from a colleague's chatter, and better coffee from the replicator were enticing reasons. As he entered Elysium, he quickly looked around the room to find the face he had seen in the personal file. It didn't take long for him to find the person he was searching for in the nearly vacant room.

Meris: This is probably the only time I'll prefer the view from my quarters to the view from here.

Ollie nodded in acknowledgment of the ensign's words and set down the stack of PADDs on the table beside the cup of milk coffee he had grabbed for himself on the way. He then took a seat across from Meris at the table.

Bergmen: I'm JG Bergmen, Ensign Meris, I presume? So how can I help you?

Meris: Response

The lieutenant nodded slightly as he listened to the ensign's words, and after a brief moment, he picked up the top PADD from the stack he had brought with him.

Bergmen: Do you mind if I take notes? Nothing for an official report or so, just points for me, for later.

Meris: Response
