(( Operations Center - Deck 5, USS Artemis-A ))

Bergmen: And here we are.

Here we are. How dry and devoid of emotion it sounded. Simple, static, emotionless.

K’Wara: What happened after Dota Eos was brought aboard the Artemis?

Bergmen: Unstoppable force collided with an unmovable object.

Bergmen's gaze remained steady, his expression composed and professionally neutral.

Bergmen: Commander Silveira and Dota Eos didn’t share the same views on the legality of multiple things—our status here, for one. Our disregard to their right and jurisdiction to enforce their own laws within their own borders while defending Afalqi was another. But mostly I think Dota didn’t seem quite fond of the fact that Starfleet personnel felt legally and morally right to aim a phaser at a foreign-appointed commanding level officer doing their job within their jurisdiction, and the fact she was placed into the custody of Starfleet Security after.

K'Wara: ... A Security Team to 'secure' a visiting Captain?

Bergmen shrugged. Not his paygrade level of decisionmaking.

Bergmen: I cannot speak to what happened before Dota Eos arrived. At that moment when she did arrive at the bridge, we were under Red Alert conditions. As a vessel on detached service during active hostilities, regulations granted Commander Silveira, as acting commanding officer, broad authority in this matter.

K'Wara: It's standard procedure for Starfleet, yes... oO But I'm not sure the Nascaik accept that as reasoning... Oo ::sighs:: Our lack of understanding of Nascaik customs and temperaments led to this, and we're going to have to deal with the fallout of that. Make sure major miscommunications that have occurred between us and the Nascaik since crossing into their space are recorded and flagged for FDC review. It's time we start building a more cohesive diplomatic dossier on this culture.

Olie nodded. It was sound and nicely formulated as a perfect summary of the sequence of events that led them here.

Bergmen: If you say so, sir, this exactly will be in my report.

K'Wara: Response

Bergmen: Is there anything else specific you’d like to be found in my report, sir?

K’Wara: Response
