(( Cave System - Coastal Cliffs, Outside Bantlox Colony, Laoi III ))
Vailani: We have to go now.
Gnai: Aye, sir!!
She didn’t wait much longer, and grabbed the arm of the uninjured boy, Ahran and began to shepherd him forward at a quickened, yet careful pace. The uneven floor of the cave made it difficult to go at any speed. Not to mention the threat of falling stalactites.
She looked back just to make sure that Gila, carrying Nimo, and Gnai were behind her.
When they turned the corner, the light from outside penetrated the darkness of the cave.
Gnai: Looks like Iruh has already made it out!
Sadar: Iruh’s outside, Nimo! We’ll be there soon.
Vailani: Come on Ahran!
Ahran squeezed her hand tightly and she instinctively pulled him closer to her and wrapped her arm around his shoulder as they approached the exit. It was such a natural and sudden movement it almost made her falter.
It reminded her of a time that never should have been. A whisper of a memory, in which she was a mother. Had she wrapped her own arms around her own children?
When she heard a crash behind her and Ahran whimpered beside her she returned her focus behind her. Gila had paused. There was no sign of Gnai.
Sadar: L-Lieutenant!?
Then the familiar pulsing flash of light of Lieutenant Gnai’s optical transmissions of emotional states indicated their presence, before the suit clumsily clambered over the debris left by the stalactite.
Gnai: ::loudly:: This is fine, this is fine, just slow! Keep going!
Zoyara helped Ahran up the small climb to the entrance, Iruh held out a blue hand to assist as she punted the boy upwards to his friend. As he climbed through Zoyara heard Gila approach.
Vailani: Let’s get her out of here.
Sadar: We’re here! Ahran, Iruh, take Nimo!
Gila moved Nimo around so the two children outside could reach her, despite the girl’s protests.
Nimo: I can’t walk, it hurts!
Sadar: You have to. Move!
Aided by the friends, Nimo was soon pulled through the egress, leaving just the Starfleeters to leave.
Gnai: Response
Sadar: Vai-net, next is you.
Zoyara felt the bloom of an argument erupt within her. She didn’t want to be the one to leave her friend behind. Instead, she nodded and pulled herself up towards the children and over the lip of the cave entrance into the sunlight.
She cast an eye over the children, all huddled together, the two boys cradled the girl in their arms.
Vailani: :: to the children :: Stay where you are!
She turned towards the cave entrance and called into the darkness.
Vailani: You two better move it!
Gnai: Response
Once the other two had got themselves out of the cave safely. Zoyara let out a relieved breath.
Sadar: Phew... Not a moment too soon. Everyone okay?
Vailani: :: nods :: Yes :: returns attention to the children :: Let’s get them back to their parents.
Gnai: Response
((Timeskip a few hours - Evacuation Zone 1))
Zoyara stood outside the Evac Operations tent, mainly to get a break from Bim Pend and his constant stream of demands and information about everything. She smiled as Gila approached with a limping Nimo.
Vailani: Nice to see you on your feet Nimo. Nice job, Doctor Sadar.
Sadar/Nimo: Response
In the distant, near the makeshift temporary habitation tents they had set up was Ahran and Iruh. Surrounded by an assortment of family members, who refused to let either boy out of their sight. She thought that their days of trawling in caves were behind them. Thankfully.
Gnai: Response
Zoyara acknowledged the Galadoran with a nod as they approached. They had been especially useful in the last few hours, mainly with topographical scans and their extraordinarily deep knowledge of the ocean. Which, of course Bim Pend wants to use to create a whole new community area and she was sure one of the colonists mentioned a resort to rival Risa?
Vailani: Any word from Lieutenant Silveira’s team?
Gnai/Sadar: Responses
