(( Cabin 6, Section 7, Deck 5, USS Artemis-A ))

For a moment Breys prattled on from topic to topic, as she often did when trying to act casual. She could see her roommate was weary, but unfortunately Breys was one to not take these details into account until it was too late.

Breys: I do have something I think you'll enjoy though!

She revealed a small timpok tree, a native plant of Bajor.

Jaran: Timpok! Oh that's lovely. How long have you been tending it?

Breys: Seven years now, since I started to plan to join Starfleet.

This was something Breys was quite proud of. When she had heard of the craft of Bonsai she knew she had to practice it. It was tedious, but the end result was something she could keep in her room that reminded her of home.

Jaran: You know my shrine is actually made of timpok. Who knows? Maybe ::pause for yawn:: they're related.

Breys: ::she laughs:: Technically they all are, but I won’t bore you with that right now.

A rare sign of restraint.

Jaran: I am so sorry for being rude, but sleep is calling me. "Even the bones need to sleep." You know the saying, I'm sure. Have a pleasant evening. I'm sure we'll have many lovely conversations.

The excitable ensign deflated a little, she’d hoped for a heartfelt conversation, or at least a shared hobby.

Breys: Oh, that’s alright, not rude at all. I tend to be quiet in the evenings, so hopefully I don’t keep you up. Rest well!

She turned to place the timpok plant on a shelf, and pulled out a small mister. The rest of the plants could stay in the arboretum for the night.

End of scene
