((Grombria’s office, Palais de la Concorde, Paris))

The Councillor stood up and pointed at each of the two officers. It was clear that he had spotted their non-verbal communication attempts, and Genkos tried to bluff his way out.

Adea: What do you mean?

Grombria: She looked at you, and you shook your head - what’re you communicating? Come on, come on, out with it.

The man didn’t seem angry, so Genkos shrugged as if to say “alright then”.

Jovenan: Okay, then. Um. I haven’t actually met a single other Edo after leaving God’s Claims until now… with an exception relating to a past mission of our ship. The details are not publicly available due to the nature of the mission, so I cannot legally reveal any of them without the verification of the security clearances.

Grombria’s eyes widened for a moment as they apparently considered the rules - Genkos knew that the Edo had a more than healthy regard for the law, but Grombria then shook his head.

Grombria: You can give me more than that, the stuff that isn’t classified. I can always requisition the logs if I wanted.

Jovenan frowned and Genkos inclined his head. Although it was probably best not to reveal everything, especially to someone not in Starfleet, the man was still a Federation representative and deserved some kind of respect.

Jovenan: We… came across an Edo, a mediator in fact, and took her on board. She… she was from another universe. Our people exist in that universe as well, so do our world and our God. There were differences, but it was all remarkably similar. And… ::long pause:: she was me. Her universe’s counterpart of me.

Grombria let out a gasp, and his hand flew to his mouth.

Grombria: Gracious - what happened to her - where is she now?

Jovenan: She died as a victim of a crime, trying to stop a crime. We had a ceremony according to our traditions so that her spirit would find peace and fade to everything.

Grombria immediately floated to Jovenan’s side, and placed a hand on her shoulder, giving it a little squeeze.

Grombria: Oh I am so sorry, I should not have pushed.

Genkos jumped in, in case Jovenan was too verklempt.

Adea: It’s okay, Councillor, you weren’t to know.

Jovenan: Response

Grombria: But still, it must be difficult to have it brought up. Watching anyone die is painful, but for it to be yourself, that’s impossible for me to imagine. You have my gratitude, Jovenan, for your service. ::suddenly remembering the good doctor:: You both do.

Adea: Thank you for saying so, Councillor.

Jovenan: Response

Grombria clapped his hands together and walked back to the replicator to get them further drinks.

Grombria: Now I think it’s your turn - ask me anything.

Genkos turned his face towards Jovenan, smiling and with both eyebrows raised. Here was her chance to find out whatever she wanted.

Jovenan: Response

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
