Brexis: ::Shouting at no one in particular:: I kicked it! It’s turning on!
oO Ingenious. Oo
Bergmen: ::whispers to Brexis:: Really?
Breys: Let’s hope the generator warms up soon.
Munro: It should take a while for the batteries to charge.
MacKenzie: We'll need to buy some time...
Brexis: Sometimes things just need kicking to work right. Percussive maintenance is what I think they call it.
They were lucky the kick didn't do further damage to the equipment.
Bergmen: ::winks to Brexis and smile:: Please… Don’t do that, ma’am, next time. Ok?
Breys: ::under her breath:: As long as it works.
Munro: I'd prefer you not potentially damage equipment that our lives depend on Ensign. That's not an example to follow.
Brexis: The batteries should be charging now. ::beat, then shouting:: The batteries should be charging now!
The buffer for the power flow immediately started building, and the brightness of the lights slowly started to even out.
Bergmen: ::shouting:: Where do you need us captain?
MacKenzie: Make sure the generator is stable before you come back up here.
What was a small win for the group was followed immediately by the next and most imminent threat. The sounds of howling, scratching and clawing against the deck plating grew closer.
Brexis: ::Pained:: They are getting closer!
Bergmen jumped in closer, gently taking her by the shoulders, and bent down to meet her gaze.
Bergmen: Lieutenant, it’s ok. They are not here. Listen to the sound of my voice. Breath. I need you, Lieutenant. I need your help. ::calmly:: It’s gonna be ok. Breath.
Breys: Power should be stable enough for the force field soon. Let's hope it holds them back.
Munro: Captain. I'm experiencing some difficulties. I think our trips through the transporters did something to us?
MacKenzie: Difficulties?
Munro: I can continue but … if you need to stun me.
Bergmen: ::calmly:: Good. Good. In and out. Let it all out. I will be right back, ok?
She could hear Ollie continuing to coach Brexis from nearby. After a moment, he let go of her shoulders.
Breys: Everything alright down there? We're running low on time.
Tensions were high. The anxiety was audible in the new ensign's voice, as was the frustration in both Munro and Brexis. MacKenzie and Bergmen might be the only ones operating at 100%.
Munro: The Thing is attacking her with telepathy.
MacKenzie: They seem to be aware of our weakness...
No doubt from their encounters at the monastery. The creatures were both cunning and adaptive, and seemed keenly aware of how to inflict damage on some of the crew members. MacKenzie wondered if Storm was having a similar issue wherever she was on the ship.
Brexis: Response
Bergmen: ::shouts:: All systems… (beat) Most systems show green! The important one! Ready anytime you are!
The console in front of Breys barely had enough power to flicker on and off, but everything appeared ready to go.
Breys: Alright. ::looks to Munro:: I'm as ready as I can be.
Munro: Let's do this.
MacKenzie: ::pointing at the console:: Proceed.
Brexis: Response
Munro started to tweak the phase modulator back and forth gently, barely misaligning and realigning the flow while Breys kept steadfast watch over her own console. MacKenzie watched from behind as, suddenly, the power flickered on for a brief moment.Breys: ::scrambling to get data off her console:: The current frequency is- ::the console shuts off again, the lights dim:: I couldn't get it in time.
Munro: Keep trying.
MacKenzie had to draw consciousness to her breath after realizing she'd been holding it as she watched each of the teams work.
Bergmen/Brexis: Response
After the handful of seconds that made up eternity, they had another chance. Breys was on it like lightning.
Breys: ::with more urgency:: The current force field frequency is 83.6 megahertz! We need to scan within a few megahertz of that.
Munro: Establishing force fields now.
Bergmen/Brexis: Response
MacKenzie's eyes moved across the ceiling as she waited for any kind of confirmation that they'd been met with success. Finally, the sounds of forcefields engaging accompanied by the blue shimmer meant that they'd achieved temporary sanctuary. The stability of the fields, however, was precarious at best.
Breys: Can you work out any of the fluctuations in power down there? The force field is barely stable. Maybe kick it again?
MacKenzie decided now wasn't an appropriate time to begin a new habit of kicking ensigns...
Munro: Let's not do that. We need to align the remodulating frequency.
Bergmen/Brexis: Response
The first officer Ava began to carefully modulate along with the frequencies, seeming to catch a rhythm as she worked.
Munro: I think I've got it. It's not perfect but we've stabilised the computer core.
MacKenzie: Good news. What are you able to tell us about the status of the ship?
Bergmen/Brexis/Breys: Response
Munro: We've got some partial systems back online. Main Engineering, Partial Sickbay - the Quarantine Suite, that makes sense. Antimatter storage bay, and the shuttle craft room on deck 2 :: sighs :: That's not going to be enough to get us off this planet.
MacKenzie: No, but it's a good start. Where should we move to next?
((Keeping Liv's OOC for reference: I took this information from the other scene. We still need to get Deflector Array, Impulse Engines, Shield Emitters, Lifesupport Systems and the Bridge.))
Bergmen/Brexis/Breys: Response
Munro: We may need to split up, Captain?
MacKenzie: ::nodding:: It might come to that, but I don't like it. There's no telling whether or not the forcefields will remain stable, and I'd rather maintain safety in numbers...
Bergmen/Brexis/Breys: Response
The commanding officers turned to the others.
MacKenzie: We have a team in engineering. I think the next possible stop makes sense that we try to get power to the bridge. Any chance of us doing that from here, or are we better off trying to do that via the quarantine suite in Sickbay?
Bergmen/Brexis/Breys/Munro: Response
She shook her head. It was never as easy as she hoped it would be.
MacKenzie: Alright, then. Grab whatever gear you need and let's get ready to move on. ...maybe we can find a weapons locker along the way.
Bergmen/Brexis/Breys/Munro: Response
