(( Computer Core Upper Level - Deck 5 - USS Karnack ))
The sounds of scratching and howling grew louder, weighing on everyone as they grew closer. Ollie was prepared to manage the energy flows as voices above him attempted to harness it as best they could.
Breys: ::scrambling to get data off her console:: The current frequency is- ::the console shuts off again, the lights dim:: I couldn't get it in time.
Munro: Keep trying.
Ollie expected some instructions, yet none came, so he turned back to the screen to continue with his part.
Bergmen: I can give you a little more juice to extend the range, if that helps, Ensign!
Take it from here and strengthen this; it wouldn't sound complicated on paper. Ollie watched the readings jump all over the scale as the seconds ticked by, silently mumbling his prayer to Space Koala for the conduits to hold the stress. Breys' voice finally came from above, bringing good news.
Breys: ::with more urgency:: The current force field frequency is 83.6 megahertz! We need to scan within a few megahertz of that.
Munro: Establishing force fields now.
Bergmen: Conduits are holding! Flow is sta- (beat) good enough.
Wishes, hopes, and prayers were unfolding before the lieutenant's eyes. Despite controlling the necessary energy requirements and conducting a frequency analysis, Bergmen wasn't completely confident that this bolt bucket could handle it. The Karnack wasn't in top shape, even before they began digging a furrow with the vessel on Callis I.
Yet the sound behind him—the shivering sounds of forcefields activating—was like a symphony to his ears, even as his eyes took in the unsettling images on the display.
Breys: Can you work out any of the fluctuations in power down there? The force field is barely stable. Maybe kick it again?
Ollie glanced up and opened the mouth.
oO I’m trying, de razêm! Oo
And then he closed them as he decided to keep his words under his hat. Plus - the display was too high to kick anyway.
Munro: Let's not do that. We need to align the remodulating frequency.
Bergmen: Trying my best, Ensign…
Ollie tried to optimize the energy flow to provide more power to the force fields, but didn't know how much that would help the team.
Munro: I think I've got it. It's not perfect but we've stabilised the computer core.
MacKenzie: Good news. What are you able to tell us about the status of the ship?
Ollie switched the display to analyze the ship's power systems and distribution. It was far from flightworthy status as per regulations, but considering the situation, it was better than he had expected.
Bergmen: Conduits and energy distribution systems hold quite well, given the situation. (beat) System-wise. Physical inspection may still be needed.
Breys: Response
Munro: We've got some partial systems back online. Main Engineering, Partial Sickbay - the Quarantine Suite, that makes sense. Antimatter storage bay, and the shuttle craft room on deck 2 :: sighs :: That's not going to be enough to get us off this planet.
MacKenzie: No, but it's a good start. Where should we move to next?
That was a million question. Ollie bit his lower lip, thinking about all the necessities they would need to get this wreck into space, and more importantly, keep it together once they were out there.
Bergmen: With the computer online, which system will we need, and which is the closest? Life support?
((Keeping Liv's OOC for reference: I took this information from the other scene. We still need to get Deflector Array, Impulse Engines, Shield Emitters, Lifesupport Systems and the Bridge.))
Breys: Response
Munro: We may need to split up, Captain?
MacKenzie: ::nodding:: It might come to that, but I don't like it. There's no telling whether or not the forcefields will remain stable, and I'd rather maintain safety in numbers…
Bergmen set the energy distribution to computer control and climbed back up to the team.
Bergmen: Agree, captain. So far, there is no need to split. Altogether, we make the work needed done quicker.
Breys: Response
The captain turned to the others.
MacKenzie: We have a team in engineering. I think the next possible stop makes sense that we try to get power to the bridge. Any chance of us doing that from here, or are we better off trying to do that via the quarantine suite in Sickbay?
Bergmen: Do we need to take over the bridge? Cannot steer the ship from Engineering? The less we stress the ship's systems, the better - for life support, force fields, the list goes on...
Breys/Munro: Response
The captain shook her head. Discussion was over.
MacKenzie: Alright, then. Grab whatever gear you need and let's get ready to move on. ...maybe we can find a weapons locker along the way.
Bergmen: Aye, ma’am.
Breys/Munro: Response
Bergmen gathered his backpack and equipment and stepped forward to take the lead. He glanced at the commander and the captain.
Bergmen: I will take a couple of steps up on the point, you know, unsecured territory.
oO It was another day in paradise. Oo
Breys/Munro/MacKenzie: Response
Ollie nodded, and before he crawled into Jefferies tubes, he took a deep breath. It didn't take long for him to reach the ladder, and as he straightened up and grabbed the rungs, he stopped, looked into the side tube, then into the ladder hatch, as if something had occurred to him while he was there.
Bergmen: No, we should take the next one; it’s just two bulkheads to the right. That one ends up right by the Armory on deck four.
Breys/Munro/MacKenzie: Response
