((Main Engineering, Deck 15 - USS Artemis-A))
With the chaos from the mission subsided, Gnai’s suit was in desperate need of a proper set of eyes… and hands. It had been too long since it had met with Lt. Cmdr. Salkath to sort out the kinks in the mechanical suit, and with the pollen that it still found buried in crevices of the joints, it had become urgent.
Ens. Imril had been working on some sort of long-term project when Gnai had interrupted them, eager to get started on this fix. Thankfully, it seemed that the intrusion wasn’t going to cause frustration, and Gnai found itself bobbing in appreciation.
Gnai: Perfect… This would normally reach out to Commander Salkath for assistance, but given his absence, this presumed that you might be willing to help? This suit is in need of a bit of maintenance, as far as this can tell.
Imril: I’m sure I can manage. If you don't mind sharing a bit of technical data?
Oh, of course. Lt. Cmdr. Salkath had promised Gnai that he would give it the utmost privacy he could, and that none of the rest of the Engineering staff would get their hands on the files regarding the construction of its suit, should it not wish.
Gnai: Oh, yes, this can share some of the information with you. ::reaching over to tap in a passcode to the files:: Here, hopefully that will make this easier?
Imril: Thanks.
Gnai watched as Imril quickly downloaded the relevant information onto a PADD, before closing the files, leaving them to be locked away from prying eyes once again.
Imril: Perhaps we should move to a less crowded space? There’s a private work lab not too far from here.
Gnai: Oh, that’s a good idea, please, lead the way, ensign!
Imril’s little project required a bit of deconstruction, and Gnai waited patiently as they puttered around the space, turning off devices and stowing them away for later. After the alcove was reset for the next engineer who needed it, Imril gestured for Gnai to follow them, and follow it did.
Imril: Here we are.
The room that they had brought it to was unlike any other room that it had been in before in Engineering. This seemed far more specialized, and Gnai was curious about what had prompted Ens. Imril to choose this place. Would this be able to tell more fine detail about the suit’s current problems?
Imril: Does your tank need to be removed from the suit before I get started on any repairs or cleanings? This room’s holo-equipped if it comes to that.
Gnai: ::shaking back and forth in its tank:: No, most work should be able to be done with this still inside… unless it becomes apparent that the transparent aluminum itself needs repair… But that seems unlikely.
Imril: Response
Gnai: Ensign, this is curious about the design of this room. What sort of sensors are you utilizing to examine this suit? This presumes from the layout, that you are gathering data from every angle at once…?
Imril: Response
Another bob in its tank, good, hearing their explanation made Gnai feel even better for approaching them. They were clearly trying to cover every base, thinking about every possible problem that the suit could have.
Gnai: Well, the most pressing issue that this observed was wear on the leg joints. ::pointing to them:: After countless hours of hiking, and pollen contamination, they’re not responding as effectively to inputs as in the past.
Imril: Response
