((Outside of Alyndra’s Quarters, Deck 3, USS Artemis-A))
What had began as his second task of the day checking environmental and crew support set-up for newly arrived crew, had morphed into a tour/karaoke affair. The young Andorian Ensign was determined to make a better go of things on board, than his on first day; and so, he fought his natural urge to go hide in Engineering, and instead decided to go where the spontaneous escapade might lead; even if it did turn out to be, Karaoke.
Gnai: Well… that’s part of why this isn’t as well-versed in the social locations aboard the ship as most of the other officers… Sorry to say. ::beat, then a gesture with the suit's arms:: This way, if you'll follow?
Tho’bi: ::nods:: ::smiles::
Syrex: ::Looking towards Tho’Bi:: Are you always this nervous ensign?
The question sent his Andorian senses into overdrive; his antennae twitched as the corridor pulsed with low resonance of the warp core; the control panels along the walls emitted a low-mid hum; behind the wall plating, the EPS relays fizzed; and in the midst of it all, a calm space of harmonic vibrations, bobbed slightly in its travel suit.
Tho’Bi: Eh… ::looks any where but at Syrex::
Syrex: I’m a doctor, specifically, I am a paediatrician. So, I always know when I see nerves.
Tho’Bi: Yeah. Erm.. ::looks at Syrex:: on-only when I erm… first meet p-people ::looks any where but at Syrex::
An awkward silence was endanger of arriving, fortunately, it was broken by the quiet whir of a metal arm and hand reaching for a PADD.
Gnai: ::looking at the chronometer on its PADD:: Well, it’s getting close to when this has to go on shift, perhaps just one destination will suffice. The arboretum seems like the best choice…
Syrex: Oh, really? Yeah, if that’s what you’d prefer I’m all for it.
Gnai: It’s just around this corner anyways…
Tho’Bi: ::nods:: Yeah. ::glances at Syex:: m-more people I met, the better
The young Ensign smiled with mouth, but not his eyes.

((Arboretum, Deck 3, USS Artemis-A))
With a quiet whirl, the Galadoran swept an electronic arm across a vector of introduction for the assorted plants that had greeted them, upon arriving in the Arboretum. Plants always pulsed odd for Tho’Bi. Even in the controlled air floor of the Artemis, plants appeared to have a movement of their own; this unsettled the space-born Andorian. Leaves would shift, bob, tilt, and sway to an invisible music, that appeared to move then by different layer, in different manner, and to different degree.
Gnai: Here you go! This is as good a place as any to relax aboard the Artemis.
While growing up on Deep Space 3, the young Ensign had heard this sentiment expressed many times by, what the space born would call, somewhat unkindly, ‘dirt dwellers’. And yet, the Galadoran was most certainly not a dirt dweller. Perhaps what he found to an unruly mess of movement, was a calming organic wash for the Galadoran; the Ensign pondered, but could find no way to articulate it well.
Tho’Bi: ::looks around:: I guess this (beat) this is relaxing for (beat) for people who gr-grew up on planets.
Syrex: Response
The Galadoran responded with what felt like something he had heard, rather than thought, and what the Andorian was beginning to think of as ‘The Artemis Script”. While sitting hunched up against a bulkhead, the seven year-old Tho’Bi has listened to a seasoned enlisted explained, “Ships take on the personality of their Captains.” The little Andorian looked up, wide-eyed, as the enlisted continued in gruff tone, “Like an orchestra”; the enlisted gestured with heavy hands, “there are many players, but only one conductor.”
Gnai: You’ll want to do as much as you can. Life on the Artemis is ::long pause:: hectic at best. There’s no such thing as an “easy mission” here.
Tho’Bi: ::truncates & misquotes JFK:: We t-choose to go to the moon, n-not because it is easy, b-but because it is hard ::end of quote:: ::nods:: A human said that ::stops nodding:: a long time ago (beat) be-before they had warp ::looks at the other two::
Syrex: Response
The young Ensign watched Gnai stalk out of the Arboretum, in juddering metallic strides. And instantly missed the sense of rhythmic calm the Galadoran brought, to the layers of swirling vibration and mess his antennae sensed at all the times. He looked around the convolution of stalk, branch, and leaf.
Tho’Bi: I was born in space so I like bulk heads and jefferies tubes ::looks at Syrex:: but, I guess for you (beat) this is really relaxing?
Syrex: Response
Tho’Bi: ::looking around:: Maybe it’s being Andorian too… I can sense all the movement ::looks at Syrex and smiles:: it’s a lot.
Syrex: Response
The young Ensign wondered if his presence had interrupted the proceedings; after all, hadn’t Lieutenant Syrex wanted to do Karaoke.
Tho’Bi: We can go do Karaoke if you want. (beat) (beat) Sorry, that was a bit abrupt. (beat) I do that too when I’m nervous.
Syrex: Response
((OOC: 100% up for a last hurrah of Karaoke silliness before Syrex departs for the Ronin. But feel free to find an exit, if you’d rather shut the sim down.))
