(( En Route to Alleged Monastery, Callis 1 ))

Syn: ::nodding:: I never got a straight answer on what exactly those things were that the holodeck threw at us during mine. We were in transit in the Sol system when we were knocked out of warp by some... semi-biological space-drills, best we could tell. Not Borg, from what we could tell, but decidedly not just organic. ::beat:: That was the last thing that happened before I came here- or to the Karnack, I guess.

Cole: That is ::exhales:: really rough luck.

Brexis: Sounds like it.

Much to their relief, the edges of Syn's vision began changing from shades of black and green, to lighter tones of gray and brown. If they had to guess, Sairrek would have bet they were finally approaching the 'Monastery' which had been their home for the past week.

oO And indefinitely into the future. Oo

The Suliban startled as the familiar voice returned suddenly and without warning. Unlike past instances, this time it sounded as if it came from someone standing right there in the midst of the group. Of course, this could no more be true than the beast that haunted them, so they pushed it out of their mind.

Syn: ::faltering:: Sorry about that, almost tripped. Are my eyes deceiving me again, or are we getting close?

Cole: Yep, we are home. Now let’s get you tucked in.

(( Alleged Monastery, Callis 1 ))

The mood darkened with the ambient light as the group entered the structure, as if the shade itself weighed heavy on their shoulders.

Cole: Here Spark ::crooked half smile:: hold them for a moment please. Since we can’t be sure the cages downstairs are secure, we can convert this side room into an impromptu holding cell of sorts, since it’s already got the barred window and a single point of entry.

Brexis relieved Cole of the Suliban with remarkable efficiency. Syn got the feeling they all wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. If they did bail once they were properly secured, it couldn't blame them.

Brexis: Make sure there isn’t anything sharp in there.

Syn: ::genuinely, if weakly smiling:: You know, if this wasn't effectively a brig, I'd feel pretty special right now.

Cole: ::to Syn:: It’s better then some alternatives at the moment, and hopefully only a temporary measure :: to Charlotte:: Thoughts?

The two traded for the prisoner again. Syn considered selling stock options with all the Suliban trading going on.

Brexis: It should work just fine. Someone will have to keep guard.. Just in case. ::To Syn:: You know… Just to keep you and us safe.

It ate Sairrek alive that they were losing control of their own faculties so severely that it had come to this. All things considered, however, the others were correct. This was the sensible course of action.

Syn: ::sighing, ashamed:: Yes, of course sir.

Cole: Oh my idea on resolving their hallucinations? We could have them drink water with activated charcoal ::gestures toward the fire:: It’ll either absorb the toxins in their system, or help them … expel them.

oO Expel? Do I even want to know which end she means? Oo

They took another moment to inspect just how securely the door was locked, in case of sudden... emergency.

Charlotte shook her head.

Brexis: This is why we shouldn’t have touched the bones. Now we are cursed and the poor new person is going to get a security style exorcism.

Syn: Bones? Like grave bones, or 'unlucky forest creature' bones?

Cole: Response

Brexis: Do you happen to have some activated charcoal on hand? Because if we don’t then your plan won’t work.

Syn: Just to make sure I'm understanding the plan correctly- and feel free to jump in if I'm getting something wrong here: the plan is to treat my hallucinations with soot water?

Cole: Response

With a smirk, Brexis all but leapt to her feet, took Cole's face into her hands and placed a peck squarely on her cheek.

Sairrek politely looked the other way, the slightest hint of color returning to their face.

Brexis: You brilliant idiot. Let’s give it a try. ::turning to Syn:: With your permission that is…

Syn: ::turning to look behind them for the person Brexis is addressing:: Wh- You're asking me? I trust your judgement, sirs. I'm the danger here, I'm not all that sure I should have a say. If I have to drink something, though, it would be ideal for me to have proper use of my hands again.

Cole: Response

As the soot water was being prepared, Syn's eyes were drawn to the low, steady crackle of the flame. The shadows it cast over the wall seemed to lash out at them, but each tongue of shadow passed harmlessly over them.

Syn: So if this works, we all go back to help the others? Or we stay here to hold down the fort for when they come back, in case they come in hot?

Brexis/Cole: Response

They hoped it was whatever afflicted them, but they had a bad feeling about all this.

Syn: And if it doesn't? The cell here seems sturdy enough to hold me even if I really go at it. Strictly speaking, a guard should't be necessary.

Brexis/Cole: Response

Out of the corner of its eye, Syn caught a shadow starting to push through the entry to their abode. They corrected their posture, assuming it was one of the other officers. Yet on closer examination, Sairrek realized the shape was amorphous; undulating unnaturally through space as real and as large as the other two bipeds with them. At least as far as they could tell.

Syn: ::concern growing in their voice:: Uh, LTs, I think things might be ramping up again. If you have that gross water, now might be the time.

Brexis/Cole: Response
