((The Muddy Targ - Wallace Colony, Kahines II))
Lyara: Did you get a table?
Filistrien: Yes Sir. Mx. Fiell was quite adamant on this location.
Fiell: Given our proximity to the Klingon border, we’ve been fortunate enough plenty of immigrants with ties to both the Empire and the Federation. One of them is the owner of this establishment. She is a very capable chef. Her grapok sauce is very well-liked.
Lyara gave a smile to Fiell’s talking up of the dining establishment. She always had a soft spot for Klingon food and nothing hit the spot like some good ol’ gagh.
Lyara: Sounds great! We thought we’d bring some company.
Lyara motioned over her shoulder at Hazel and Barto behind her.
Bergmen: Response
Filistrien: Ah, you must be the individuals who discovered the site. Mr. Barto and Miss Hazel?
Hazel: That’s us.
Filistrien gave them a bow.
Filistrien: A pleasure to make your acquaintance. I’m Petty Officer Xandeus Filistrien, a subordinate of Ensigns Bergmen and Lyara.
Barto: Good to meet you. Now, shall we go? I’m starving.
Fiell: Of course.
The group entered the restaurant and were seated at their table. Lyara had opted for the gagh with a side of grapok sauce like Fiell had suggested.
Bergmen: Response
Lyara: And before we begin, for transparency purposes, you can ask any questions back.
Barto: Just the three of you here then?
Alroyo shook her head as she ate a forkful of gagh.
Bergmen: Response
Hazel: ::tail flicking with interest:: Oh? And where are they?
Filistrien: They are currently getting the specifics of the archaeological survey negotiated with the Klingon research team. Since none of us are scientists, however, we were tasked with getting a first-hand account on the incident that led to the discovery of the site.
Thankfully the intelligence officer remembered where they were as the excitement of authentic gagh had made her forget for a moment.
Barto: Huh. ::shrugs:: It’s nothing really exciting, but I won’t turn down a good meal.
Bergmen: Response
Lyara looked between the two officers and nodded to each, now that the colonists were settled with their questions it was time they started asking ones of their own.
Lyara: So how exactly did you stumble upon the ruins?
Barto turned his head and looked to Hazel as if to signal she had a better idea of the events that transpired.
Hazel: My niece had run off from the house while playing so Barto and I, knowing the local fauna can be dangerous, went off to find her while her parents informed the administration.
Alroyo started to write down in the PADD a transcript of Hazel’s answer.
Bergmen: Response
Barto: Well, it seemed the little devil should be credited with the discovery because we found her just staring at the old Klingon fortress.
Alroyo continued to write in her PADD, noting technically it was the child who found it.
Lyara: And how old is your niece Hazel?
She gave a slight chuckle as she went over a mental calendar.
Hazel: Barely four, not old enough to get a coherent story.
Alroyo made a note on the transcript that interviewing a four year old would in fact prove to be a fruitless endeavor. She looked to her fellow officers to see what other suggestions they had.
Lyara: ::Hushed tone:: You guys wanna let them doodle a bit? Have them visualize the area for us?
Bergmen/Filistrien: Response
Alroyo took her PADD and pressed on it to bring up a map of the settlement in relation to the archeological site.
Lyara: ::Sliding the PADD towards the settlers:: Got a bit of an arts and crafts project for you guys.
The settlers stared at the PADD then looked back up to the three officers.
Bergmen/Filistrien: Response
