(( Elysium - Deck 5, USS Artemis-A ))

Virtavi-Yaros: A wonderful day to you, ::eyes pips:: Lieutenant. Might you be expecting company, or would you permit me the honour of making your acquaintance this day?

The dark-haired Lieutenant seated before her seemed to consider that proposition for a moment, and Nadevia tipped her comely face to one side with curiosity. Given that Nadevia had not identified herself as a Representative of Starflirt just yet, the Lieutenant’s reluctance seemed more indicative of her approach to company rather than a reaction to Nadevia’s vocation, which - in fairness - often made the members of the Artemis crew reluctant to speak with her.

Unless, of course, someone else had already gotten to the Lieutenant and warned her of the ‘odd Kantare woman’ who frequented Elysium. That would not be ideal. Perhaps she ought to change her main locale, insert a sense of unpredictability to her tactics.

Storm: Of course. ::Gesturing to the seat opposite her.::  Is there something I can help you with …. ?

Nadevia did a brief curtsy in response to the invitation, before taking a seat.

Virtavi-Yaros: I am Nadevia Virtavi-Yaros. Pray forgive my forwardness, but I do not believe I have had the pleasure of encountering your likeness before. May I presume you are newly come aboard the Artemis?

Storm:  I am.   But you…you aren’t Starfleet, are you?

That was a fair assessment, Nadevia thought, considering her preferred form of dress lent itself better to an informal gathering for Kantare high society rather than a ‘night on the town’ aboard a Federation flagship.

Virtavi-Yaros: Me? Why, I have been so fortunate so as to be granted permanent residence aboard the Artemis due to my vocation of liaison for Starflirt. Perhaps you have heard of it?

The Lieutenant blinked several times. Evidently, her previous reluctance to allow Nadevia a seat at her table had not been due to the unwelcome intervention of other crewmembers, but rather a symptom of the Lieutenant’s inherently antisocial nature. That was hopeful. Once the surprise had settled, the Lieutenant smiled quietly, almost demurely, as she clasped her wine glass.

Storm: I … have … not, but I can assume that it entails Starfleet aaaand Flirting?

Nadevia’s smile grew wider at the Lieutenant’s response. It was not an entirely surprising reaction - Starflirt was very much the type of service you either knew personally or had never heard of - and she knew that not every Ship in the Fleet had the good fortune of having a designated Representative aboard. In that respect, the Artemis was truly blessed.

Virtavi-Yaros: Your presumption, Lieutenant, is as bold as it is accurate. I must confess you are quite correct.

Storm:  So, it’s like … ::gestures with her wine glass::  a dating service?

Nadevia pursed her lips as she crossed her legs beneath the table. She had attempted to impress upon the administrators that the name was problematic branding, especially given the tendency of many Starfleet officers to actively abstain from dating due to the hazardous nature of their service. Rather than utilize Starflirt for its function as a means to encounter love, Starflirt was most often utilized as a means to find like-minded friends or colleagues, a stranger to talk to without the added dimension of mutual service to moderate one’s words.

Was this the intended purpose? No. But Nadevia had seen more than one occasion where this innocent connection born of a need for companionship had turned into genuine affection, and in some cases love, and so she had expressed her opinion that Starflirt should reflect this option in its naming.

Alas, she had met little success in that regard thus far.

Virtavi-Yaros: A most comprehensible supposition, though I must dispute its precision. While it is certainly true that the principal aim of Starflirt is to furnish a neutral and accommodating forum wherein members of Starfleet's various crews may form acquaintance regardless of their present station within the Quadrants, it would be a mistake to presume these connections are solely of a romantic nature. Indeed, among our users are many whose affections do not naturally incline toward romantic attachment - some by disposition, and others by choice. Moreover, it is not uncommon for officers to eschew deeper personal entanglements, persuaded - however erroneously - that the hazards of their calling render such intimacies too fraught with potential for heartbreak.

Storm:  And you run this just aboard the Artemis?  Or is this Starfleet-wide?

Virtavi-Yaros: Oh, by the Forebears, no! Pray do not mistake me - I do not preside over the enterprise. I am but a humble Representative, stationed upon the frontiers, tasked merely with facilitating correspondence between those desirous of such connections and the Starflirt establishment itself. As for the breadth of its reach, you are quite correct; our services extend to all who wear the uniform of Starfleet, even to those posted in the most distant and solitary corners of the galaxy. ::brief pause:: Though I confess, the vexing delay in correspondence to and from the Delta and Gamma Quadrants does present something of a challenge - one not so easily overcome, I daresay, even by the most determined of Flirters.

Nadevia’s smile widened at that final confession, intended as a well-meaning jab at herself.

Storm: Response

Virtavi-Yaros: Your concern is most understandable, Lieutenant. Ah, do pardon me, I fear I quite overlooked the proper courtesies in my eagerness to speak of my profession. If I might inquire your name, and beg forgiveness for the delay with which I do so?

Storm: Response

Virtavi-Yaros: The pleasure of making your acquaintance, Lieutenant Storm, is truly exquisite. As to your concerns, allow me to assure you that I feel perfectly secure aboard this most estimable vessel. The crew, if I may be so bold, ranks among the very finest in the Quadrant. And though there was, admittedly, a rather alarming episode most recently wherein the entire starboard side was exposed to the void, I have suffered no injury - save, perhaps, the occasional loss of a few bobs and baubles from my quarters.
