((USS Artemis-A - Deck 3, Quarters 1785))
Things had gotten off course badly. Somehow she had a strange Andorian in her quarters, who had taken it upon himself to lay on the floor, and she was still in her bathing costume that she had worn to Risa. She wanted to get this whole interaction done with as quickly as possible.
Vailani: Can we get back to checking the environmental controls - quickly?
Tho’Bi: Y-Yes, of course ::nodded:: Lieu-Lieutenant.
The ensign crouched; snapped opened the engineering kit, and popped out the engineering tricoder from its foam snug. He stood back up and aimed the tricorder in the direction of the control panel, located to the right of the door; the user-friendly interface blipped into darkness, moments later, lines of code and data flow cascaded down the display; the blue of his fingers danced across the tricorder.
Tho’Bi: ::attention fixed on the tricorder:: Sorry about the ::gestures at the Horh’ahn:: (beat) ::looks up from Tricorder at Vailani::
She shook her head, in no way did she want to continue that conversation.
Vailani: The temperature does seem a bit off in here.
Tho’Bi: ::attention fixed on tricorder:: Yeah ::lost in thought::
His antennae twitched and rotated slightly.
Tho’Bi: Fascinating ::smiles to himself:: (beat) ::looks up at the Lieutenant:: Vulcan (beat) The environmental settings were adapted for planet Vulcan ::flips the tricorder around so the Vailani can see:: higher temperature, thinner atmosphere (beat) even a touch of extra gravity.
Vailani: Really?!
She felt slightly embarrassed that she hadn't noticed but then again she hadn't really spent any time at all in her quarters.
Tho’Bi: ::attention fixed on tricorder:: Temperature reset to 288 Kelvin (beat) Adjusting air density to match Starfleet defaults ::looks up at Vailani and smiles:: You might want to brace yourself for this next part. (beat) I’m about to reset the gravity.
Vailani: Oh …
She rather awkwardly parted her legs and braced herself unsure of what to expect. She then scowled at the Andorian.
After a few clicks of the tricorder she felt a sense of zero-g and then the pull of gravity which left her feeling slightly queasy.
Tho’Bi: That was cool ::he grinned::
She felt her stomach lurch some more.
Vailani: :: feeling sick :: Maybe for you …
Tho’Bi: Eh, ::shifts awkwardly on his feet:: Fo-fogive me (beat) I don’t know a lot about Bajoran Religion, but (beat) ::tilts his head and back again:: If you want to light candles or (beat) incense (beat) I-I can set the safety protocols, so (beat) so they don’t go off (beat) and drive you crazy ::nods and smiles::
She was annoyed at his assumption that she'd be lighting candles in her purely because she was Bajoran - but it was the truth and perhaps his forward thinking would save her more disruption later.
Vailani: That would be for the best, Ensign.
Tho’Bi: Response
A question began to form. Something that she'd never considered asking anyone before. Mainly because she didn't enjoy small talk - with anyone. Also because she hated highly theoretical conversations, she preferred the assuring comfort of hard facts.
Which was what fuelled her own complicated relationship with her belief in The Prophets.
Vailani: What about Andorians? Do you have any spirituality or faith? A higher power that you believe in?
Tho’Bi: Response
Vailani: That sounds … complicated?
