(( Elysium – Deck 6, USS
Artemis ))
Their
tour of the Artemis had led them through several of the more important,
unique sections of the upper decks – the sensor pod, the Operations Center on
Deck 5 – and now, their journey brought them to one of the truly unique
features of the Artemis: the Elysium. As they entered the multi-decked
lounge, Addison beamed with a bit of pride
MacKenzie: …and this is our ship’s lounge, the Elysium. It’s
a far warmer atmosphere than the standard mess hall up on deck 3.
Adea: And they have more sapphire
wine - can I get you both anything.
Nicholotti: I'm in for another glass.
Addison smiled and nodded, raising her glass signaling her readiness for another.
MacKenzie: Me too.
Genkos bowed his head and shoulders, waving a waiter over and making their order. He clapped his hands together and looked between the two of them.
Adea: Gods, it is really nice to see the three of us in the same place
again - just like old times.
Addison offered a half-smile and slightly raised eyebrow as she glanced at Genkos.
MacKenzie: Old times? Seems like
just yesterday..
Kali smiled.
Nicholotti: It does. We certainly blazed some trails through these
stars.
MacKenzie: ::shaking her head:: That’s an understatement. Our luck
should have run out long ago…
Their trek together through years in the Borderlands found them against deadly
foes and in sticky situations more times than any of them would have preferred.
There was a running joke among some of the lower-deckers that Artemis always
got the nastiest, dangerous, most traumatic missions. It wasn’t far from the
truth: the reality was that this region of space was particularly volatile, and
they often served as the last line of defense to ensure that the powers in the
region remained in check. The truth was that the perception of Starfleet’s
authority is the area is due to Nicholotti and the work they started under her command
on the Resolution and the Excalibur.
Adea: Response
Nicholotti: I'm just glad we're all still here, you know?
If their routine missions
in the Borderlands weren’t enough, the entire Federation was at risk during the
Frontier Day crisis. It was an incredible fortune that they’d all made it
through physically unscathed.
MacKenzie: ::smirking:: I think you have more lives than a cat.
Adea: Responses?
The drinks arrived, and MacKenzie gestured for them to move toward a quiet corner of the lounge. She took a sip of her wine as they walked, and when they reached their spot, Addison sunk into one of the soft chairs while Kali and Genkos sat next to one another on a plush couch. She took another sip as they gazed out the large window, the beautiful Risa visible below them.
Nicholotti: What have I missed?
Addison raised an eyebrow.
That was certainly a loaded question. She took a deep breath in through
her nose and out through her mouth, puffing her cheeks as she did so to
indicate the heft of the question.
MacKenzie: Oh, relief efforts on the Da’al homeworld after a meteor
strike, another run in with CloQ… And an encounter with alternate versions of ourselves
from another universe.
Adea/Nicholotti: Response
She took another sip of her wine before she tipped her glass at Genkos.
MacKenzie: Speaking of, they ever catch that doppelganger of yours?
Adea/Nicholotti: Response
Addison rolled her eyes and shook her head.
MacKenzie: Having two of you running around the galaxy is tricky business.
At least my murderous double went back to their universe.
Adea/Nicholotti: Response
Tag, and TBC!
