ENS Chevalier - Give Me a Reason to leave a Forest

(OCC: The "Forest" section bridges the scene between Jo and Jaseb transporting from the cave to the moment when captain is coming to Jaseb's room in the hospital. In between, there is nothing to answer to tags as Jacob was unconscious)

Jovenan: ::breathing heavily:: D- don’t do this, Jaseb! I’m… I’m gonna get you… Okay…
Jaseb listened to her voice, and the darkness was singing a lullaby in his ears… his eyes slowly closing.
oO Just a minute. I can, just for a minute, take a nap… Oo
oO No… Oo Jovenan: =/\= Energize! Get us out! =/\=
He forcibly opened his eyes to the light, to the white and blue stars stretching around him. His body felt so light that he felt like he could fly through the warp.
And then, the world around him just disappeared…
(( Frozen Forest, a world inside Jaseb’s head ))
When the light dispersed, leaving Jaseb blind, the first sensation he felt was the cold biting into his face. He blinked, closed his eyes, and tried to get the last flashes of light that dazzled him out of his field of vision. The second thing he realized, even breathing froze his insights.
~ Listen only to the sound of my voice ~
He focused on the voice in his head. He felt his warmth, felt that he could trust him. He felt its warmth penetrate his body, calming the fear, uncertainty, and confusion he had felt until now. He gave in to the feeling and calmed down. Opened his eyes. Lights and blindness were gone. He saw the steam going out of his mouth, snow and ice covering the ground, the trees, everything around him, as far as he had seen.
Unknown unfriendly voice: Don’t listen to that voice…
Jaseb turned around to the face of that voice and looked for its source. But no one was around. Just the snow, ice…trees…
oO Not even Jovenan… I was with Jovenan and… and… Oo
He tried to remember. He remembered being with her, but what were they doing? What happened? Why was he alone?
~ Let your mind relax ~
oO Again, that voice in my head… Oo
He closed his eyes again. He didn't even realize why. He simply trusted the voice. He felt his trustworthiness, his warmth… the voice was his friend. Ensign suddenly began to focus on his thoughts, confused, contradictory... he let the warmth of his voice give them order. Peace. To take his worries away.
Jovenan: ::from a distance:: Get us all to a hospital. Please.
Jaseb opened his eyes. He knew that voice. She was near, just in the trees…
Ensign started to run, and snow crunched under his feet. But as much as he ran, he felt like everything was just the same—no stones, no bird singing, no sky over his head—just the snow, ice, and trees so tall he could not see their tip, so tall they cast shadows covering the light.
~ Let your thoughts drift ~
It was difficult to breathe in the frozen air, and running didn't help. Jaseb coughed violently, and as he tried to breathe again, more and more cold suffocated him. He covered his mouth with his hands, trying to warm the air with his own heat.
But as he coughed, he felt something soft, thick, warm on his hands. He moved his hands away and looked at them.
What he saw was two mechanical hands covered in blood. He felt pain in his right leg. He looked down and saw the mechanical leg bleeding and snow soaked in his blood in which he stood.
oO We weren’t here, lieutenant and I… we were… were… not here. I… I didn’t want to hurt her and… I was wounded. I was… Oo
~ Let the bad memories fade ~
Jaseb looked from the blood-soaked snow to the trees. He couldn’t remember what happened or how he got there, but his mind knew this voice in his head, and he knew these words… The Psalm of the Forest...
Chevalier: ::whispers:: Let peace be upon you…
His eyes fixed on two trees on his right, and somehow he felt he saw the trail, the right trail he should walk. He stepped forward and started walking in that direction.
~ Surrender yourself to your dreams ~
He trotted through the snowy landscape, among the trees, still forward.
Chevalier: ::whispers:: Let them wash over you like gentle waves of the bluest ocean…
~ Let them envelop you ~
Unknown unfriendly voice: You are walking the wrong way… turn around…
Jaseb ignored that deceitful voice. It wasn’t real…unlike the voice he heard inside his head.
Chevalier: ::whispers:: Comfort you…
~ Imagine somewhere calm ~
He saw the trees ending and the light shone in the distance—the edge of the forest, his destination.
Chevalier: ::whispers:: Imagine somewhere safe…
He continued on his way, to the light, to the edge of the forest, like a moth drawn to the light of a lantern…
And then, without warning, like he would have stepped through the wall, he passed through the last trees bordering the glade, stepping into the most beautiful place Jaseb had ever seen.
~ Imagine yourself in the Frozen Forest ~
Snow was slowly fading as the glade slowly bounded into a depression, in the center of which was a pond surrounded by grass, green grass and the stone bench under the tall tree. Different tree. Glowing veins pulsed from the root to the branches on which green leaves grew.
Jaseb slowly descended to the pool, walking down the stairs made of stone.
Chevalier: ::whispers:: You are standing in a clearing, the trees around you so tall they touch the sky…
He understood now. He didn’t know when, or how, but one thing was sure. This was the end of the road. He died.
This was the Frozen Forest.
As he walked around the pool, some weird creature jumped down from the glowing tree. Animal with a large round head, big furry ears, and a big black nose, blue glowing and transparent, as if shifted in the phase of reality. The animal turned its head and stared with interest at Jaseb as he approached the bench. He took a breath, wanted to address the animal, to ask so many questions to which he still did not know the answer.
Koala stopped in the middle of the movement and glitched, while the surrounding world fell into the darkness of nothingness in the blink of an eye…
(( Rakantha Central Hospital, Bajor )) (( Couple hours later ))
Jaseb tried to open his wicks, but they remained closed, glued together with tape preventing them from opening and drying. Voice, he heard the strict and commanding voice of a woman. He knew that voice.
MacKenzie: You fools better have a good explanation for this.
oO The captain… Oo
With the thought, through came pain. His body started to realize the state in which it was. A silent groan escaped from Jaseb’s closed lips. Another voice echoed through the room.
Jovenan: Captain, I was leading an exercise for Ensigns Savel, Chevalier and Gnai as well as Crewman Renirs. Gnai and Renirs discovered a transporter-proven cave, which they entered with my permission and where Renirs stepped on a weight triggered explosive. Due to Renirs’ injuries, I ordered Savel and Chevalier to proceed with immediate rescue attempts, during with Chevalier also stepped on a mine and suffered severe injuries.
oO Lieutenant… Oo
Jaseb attempted to utter something, but his throat was parched and dry. As he tried to speak, his chapped lips rubbed against each other instead. He couldn’t speak, not even hoarse or whisper. He could just remain silent.
Gnai/MacKenzie: Response
Jaseb tried to draw attention to himself, to at least move his fingers on his hands or feet, but the more he concentrated on the task, the more he began to realize that he could not feel the fingers on either his right hand or his leg.
After a while, he stopped concentrating on his right side and concentrated even more on his left. His mind was so clouded, so unfocused. Medicaments and painkillers took their price.
Jovenan: Crewman Renirs is in another ward, and she was making a full recovery as I last saw her. Ensigns Gnai and Savel survived without injuries. The cave is being investigated by the Bajoran authorities.

The index finger on Jaseb's left hand rose slightly and tapped the bed.
