(( Corridor - Deck 4, USS Artemis-A ))
Welcoming aboard new Ensigns to the Ship wasn’t usually Tamio’s job, and neither was escorting those hapless fresh faces to their very first interrogation interview with Captain MacKenzie. As fate would happen though, Gavrin had beamed aboard just as Tamio had made themself their Transporter Chief’s problem, and as such, Tamio now had a new victim to distract them from endless PADDs.
Delightful!
K’Wara: How was the trip over from Starbase 118? Not too bumpy, I hope?
Tarsan: Incredibly smooth, thanks. Quicker than I thought it would be.
K’Wara: Well, you hit us at just the right time, Gavrin. Shore leave’s just started, and Rylor is shaping up to be quite the tropical getaway. Sounds like a pretty great way to celebrate your graduation, if you ask me.
Tamio’s first posting out of the Academy had been on the USS Churchill, which had been a support vessel to the massive Station. So they’d celebrated their graduation with a very long and very wild bar crawl in Little Risa... All things considered, Rylor would probably be a calmer place to celebrate, which - as much as Tamio hated to embody the ‘boring senior officer’ stereotype - was likely for the better.
They sent a quiet apology to Commander Obik. You don’t really appreciate the amount of trouble you cause a senior officer until you become a senior officer.
Tarsan: Absolutely, Lieutenant. Uhh.. I've never actually been to Rylor before - is there a lot to do?
K'Wara: Depends on your preference. I gather there’s a lot of beaches?
Tarsan: Me? I'm not really sure I'd know how to just... relax on the beach.
As they watched Gavrin look around them as they headed towards the turbolift, Tamio instantly got the scary notion that the Artemis-A had done the impossible and added yet another workaholic to its roster. And obviously, they clear refused to allow that. They were already outnumbered as one of the few people aboard this Ship that actually enjoyed being off-duty; they couldn’t allow this new Ensign to get roped into the unhealthy Artemisian obsession with double shifts!
K'Wara: Perhaps it would be easier for me to ask what you like to do for fun, rather than listing everything Rylor has to offer? I’m more of a metropolitan enjoyer myself, but I know there’s a small group putting together a wilderness hike?
Tarsan: Hiking trails sounds good to me - I like getting out in the wilds.
Emboldened by Gavrin's admission to enjoying leisure activities, Tamio led them into the turbolift and leaned against the wall.

K'Wara: ::to the Computer:: Bridge. ::to Gavrin:: I’ll hook you up with the coordinator for the hiking group. They’re a nice sort.
Tarsan: Response
Tamio shook their head with a massive sigh that seemed to deflate their entire 1.67 m body. Evidently, the very mention of their schedule was enough to dishearten them.
K’Wara: Not yet. The first couple of days of shoreleave are always the busiest for me; a lot of duty rosters to shuffle around to ensure everyone gets ample time to relax. oO And forcing some people to relax. I need to ally myself with Chief Morgan. Oo
Tarsan: Response
K’Wara: ::sly grin:: I’ll answer any question you have, unless it has to do with work. And not because I want to stonewall you, but because I feel fairly certain you’ll have plenty of people willing to tell you about your tasks going forward, and fewer willing to share gossip. What do you want to know?
